NDRL Slams UMP and WRG in Statement

When you have a car built to the rules of your local tracks, you race at those tracks, and then the next year you have to buy a UMP membership to race your car (only 6-8 times a season), you are being forced to buy a membership.

A traveling series coming to town is a different story. I still don't agree with the either.

When I race Friday I am being forced to be a member of an organization I do not agree with. And that's what I have a problem with.

Here's the way I look at it. The show was NDRL, with a co-sanction from UMP. NDRL did the testing, they issued the penalty to Jimmy Owens. Jason Feger's situation was pure WRG/UMP, the Illini 100 was a WoO LM show. Since WRG owns both, the sanctions against Feger crossed the board. UMP has no interest in NDRL. I doubt that NDRL's testing methods are exactly in line with WRG's testing methods, so if the WRG didn't take samples at the NDRL show at Pevely, they just can't use someone else's evidence, since it wasn't collected and handled to WRG standards (be it more lax or stringent).

BTW, have we heard anything on tire testing from the Show-Me 100?

It says that UMP led tech inspections. Which I think is a joke in itself.

There has to be something the NDRL and WDG do not see eye to eye on. What it is is not mentioned. Why would WDG go to all this to protect a lucas oil driver? It's not like he is a outlaw driver. Plus if WDG wanted to test, punish what ever you call it would they not have trird to catch him at Charlotte when Owens won the live dirt race thete the last three years. Or have caught him at the two world 100's he won or the dream. My point is this,Owens has won numerous big races, bigger than Pevely and not been caught by WDG. If he was cheating dont you think thosr would have been the races he would have tried to cheat at. Not twenty grand at I-55. So i am not sure why the penalties where not the same. Either way feger dors get to tun for three months and owens can. To me WDG should be trying to help a WDG driver rather than helping a lucas driver.

From my understanding some if not all these sanctioning bodies use the same lab to get the testing done.
I think that Ump should have suspended Owens the same as what they did Feger since they did co-sanction the event and his tires were found to be illegal.
One thing about UMP they do have a lack of enforcement for their rules in some of their divisions. They have almost ruined the Crate class already by the lack of teching for that class. The Street Stocks are a mess as well. They came out at the beginning of the year and said they will be enforcing the rules this year and guess what that is not happening. There is a track up North that said they were going by the ump rules but, already have let the cars from another track run there and they are no where close to the ump rules. Where is ump. Should they not step in and say if you are going to award ump points then you should enforce our rules. There is another track that had a guy when the street stock feature with a illegal carb but, yet he was still awarded the win and got ump points on top of that. Where was ump. should they not have stepped in and at least said we can not award him ump points because he was found to be illegal and not in compliance with our rules. Look at the Hornet class another class that is in shambles. Heck now they have 2 and 3 classes for this division. Now look ump is trying to mandate everyone have a license but, yet they can not even make these tracks enforce their own rules. All they would have to do is tell these tracks we are not going to award ump for those classes if all your cars are not in compliance with our rules and then let the tracks decide if the want to be ump or not. UMP is a mess and are not consistent on how they run their sanction body. It's time for them to step and get a backbone or get the heck out of the way.

Excellent post!

So you think Owens is that much better than the other guys I think the lab has got better and finally caught him.Owens is good but it makes sense why he was winning so much.

The thing about u.m.p it used to be a good deal for local tracks because points were counted 2nights per week so if a track rained out the guys running for points had to go somewhere to race, now it is total races up to 30 for late models.it pretty much eliminates the local weekly racers from having a chance at the championship.

Pretty good post. I think this is what 95% of us are thinking. Dearing, you have some input why ump is basically non existent at our tracks and doesn't enforce rules like those other membership charging sanctions you mentioned?

So if that is the case about Owens why hasn't he been busted at a Woo show like the one he won right after the NDRL at pevely and why hasn't he been busted on Lucas or SAS?

The show at Pevely that Owens won was not WOO show it was a NDRL show cosanctioned by UMP/WRG/DirtCar or what ever they call themselves today!

I would think that these traveling series promoters don't want to have to test their drivers in case this exact scenario should happen. They need their drivers to go out and put on a good show to put butts in the seats. If they start nit-picking with testing, they'll run everyone off.

like other sports they could reverse all infrACTIONS back till there first win or when they first had proof of infraction then fine and make them pay back winning and make them go to church ayayayay

If drivers don't have anything to hide, they shouldn't mind... and tire testing doesn't seem like nit-picking, its enforcing the rules. Now if somebody is told they cannot run a wheel cover on the left side, that would be considered nit picking. Tire doping gives an illegal advantage, those not doing it don't have a problem being tested, not speaking for everybody but I think I speak for the very large majority.

WideOpen28 unfortunately they don't care what the chemicals are or if they chemicals actually altered a tire. Each driver out there is actually at risk.
