Springfield,Mo.-After a thrilling evening of action,the chase for the championship will get back underway Sat night at the Quick-Quarter of the SpringfieldRaceway with 6 exciting classes to compete as the A-Mods will be back in action after 1 week off.
A tie for the top spot in the A-Mod point standings finds defending track champion Jackie Dalton and Brandon Maggard tied for the number 1 spot each with 36 points while veteran Steve Muilenburg is close behind trailing by only 5 points along with Opening night winner Erik Maggard.Last season's runner-up Mitch Keeter completes the top 5 as 2 different winners have visited victory lane in only 2 point shows for the A-Mods(E.Maggard,Jesse Stovall).
Willard's Sean Williams has been on a rail this season.The third generation driver won the opening night event and then the next week had to qualify through the last chance event while coming back to finish behind winner Steve Muilenburg the previous week and dominated the win last Sat night.
Williams holds the top spot in the SportMod class with Roy Maynard following.Maynard missed the race a couple of weeks ago putting him behind the pace but has his Reliable Chevrolet 602 Crate Motor currently second as Steve Muilenburg,Billy Dalton and Midway Point leader Wayne Graybeal and Eric Tinderholt completing the top 5.The SportMods have been keeping the crowd on their feet each week and get stronger every race.
The StreetStock class has a new driver on top as Jack Hamer from Ava has been hooked-up this season by showing alot of consistancy.Hamer holds a 12 point leader over defending champion Robert High with Tyrel Jones looking to turn his luck around.Tyrel has been extremely quick,but in the wrong place at the wrong time.Jones is third followed by opening night winner Tyler Schoen and Springfield's "Purple Knight" Dan Wood.High will have his work cut-out starting this week from the 11th spot in the feature.
The Legends have been thrilling the grandstands with dramatic last lap finishes and three-wide racing.Joplin's Justin Comer heads into this weekend's event as the kingpin in the point standings with a 7 marker lead over Rodney Baird,Rob Watson and Opening night winner Jay Reynolds.Fast moving Bill Cottrill rounds out the top 5 as a solid field of Legends compete each weekend.
Action will also see the new MidWest Modz compete as 14 year old "Little" JC Newell of Stoutland heads the point standing in the growing class.Newell with a 13 point lead over veteran Earl Muilenburg and a 14 point lead over a fast moving Kaleb Copher of Webb City.Kelly Gough and Nixa's Jeremy Manes complete the top 5.
PureStocks will also be competing to help round out the racing program.
Gates open at 5PM with the pitgates opening at 4PM.Hotlaps are at 6:05 and Racing at 7PM sharp.
