O'Dell triples at Doe Run Raceway

DOE RUN, MO--(July 25, 2003) Derek O'Dell returned to victory lane with a triple crown in the 600cc Multi class this past Friday night at Doe Run Raceway.

Earning a front row starting position in the main event by winning the dash, O'Dell jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Following O'Dell across the stripe were points leader Casey Barnhouse, Junior Ferguson, Kent Buckley and Dustin Barks. Heat race action saw Paul Cain finishing behind O'Dell in the first heat with Tyler Richardson bringing the 69t home to a third place finish. Barnhouse won the second heat followed by Barks and Tony Roney. Kent Buckley carried the checkered in the third heat, Ferguson second and Jeremy Boyer third. Barnhouse finished second to O'Dell in the dash, Ferguson third. In the B-main, Matt Ponder, Tommy Boyd and Chuck Fenwick were 1-2-3, enabling them to transfer to the A-Main.

Todd Williams earned two more victories in the Dwarf Car class, winning both his heat race and the feature event. Steve Copeland, Sam Layton, Bobby Black and John Leahy Jr. round out the top five of the A-Main. Steve Copeland won the first heat, Vince Conway second and Glenn Province third. Bobby Black was second to Williams in the second heat, Keith Hodges third.

Carl Bellew was another two time winner in the Mini Stock class, closing the gap to a mere 4 points in his quest for a second championship. Ron Moser finished second to Bellew in the feature, Mike LaBrot third, Chris Boyer fourth and Chuck White fifth. White won the first heat, Moser second and Phil Norris third. Chris Pettus picked up a second place finish behind Bellew in the second heat, LaBrot third.

Michael Harp returned to victory lane in both events in the Super Stock Kart class followed by Dalton Radford with two seconds, Kyle Jarrett with two third place finishes, Wayne Arnold with two fourths and Megan Bell with two fifth place finishes.

Wayne Arnold drove his #03 kart to a win the Stock Kart class. Brad Paquet, Jesse Wright, Braydon Wright and Landon Barks round out the top five. Braydon Wright was the winner of the heat race followed by, Landon Barks and Arnold.

Racing resumes Friday night at the Doe Run Raceway with 600cc Multi, Mini Stock, Dwarf, Stock and Super Stock Kart classes participating. Gates open at 6:00 p.m., practice at 7:30 p.m., racing at 8:00 p.m. For more information, log on to www.doerunraceway.com or phone (573) 756-8889.
