O’Reilly Midwest All Star Series Ready for Season Opener

The O’Reilly Midwest All Stars have been waiting for the past 6 months for opening day at the Benton Race Park in Benton, Missouri. The teams have been preparing themselves, their cars, haulers, and crews in search of the sophomore campaign Championship title.

The Season Opening event has been set for April 11, 2008 at the Benton Race Park just off Interstate 55 at Exit 80 in Southeast Missouri. The track has undergone a number of changes in the past few months in preparation for the 2008 season.

“We have made a lot of changes to this track and its overall appearance,” stated Randy Dukes, Co-Promoter with Billy Clayton. “Billy and I have teamed up to help make the necessary improvements to take this facility to the next level.”

Of the goals Dukes and Clayton have set on their plate is the re-growth of sprint car racing in the area. Events will be held on Friday nights all season long with just a couple of off nights for the sprinters.

“Sprint car racing is one of the most exciting forms of auto racing and we have a track that was built for sprint car racing. People who are sprint car fans are die-hards for the most part, and the drivers keep raising their level of professionalism and continue to work on their sport,” commented Dukes.

The O’Reilly Midwest All Star Series will be appearing at the venue a total of 5 times throughout the season including a co-sanctioned event with the “parent” series, the O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions. The O’Reilly Midwest All Star Series is jam packed with star power that has ran the track in the past years including defending Track Champion, Tommy Worley, Jr.

“A lot of the guys that are racing with the Midwest All Stars this year know this track well,” says Dukes. “You have guys like Tommy Worley, Jr., Jerrod Hull from Sikeston (Missouri), and Tyler Thompson from Cape Girardeau (Missouri) that are from around here that know this place well and have a lot of fans, we think they will take well to the changes.”

In an effort to be more fan and racer friendly, Dukes and Clayton have pushed back the start time for events to begin at 7:30 pm. The goal of this is to give the fans, drivers, and crews a little more time to get to the track and catch more of the show.

As an added incentive for the fans, Benton Race Park along with Stereo One in Cape Girardeau, Missouri will be giving away a 42 inch Plasma TV. Benton Race Park would like to thank John Selby of Stereo One for their support of helping to open up the 2008 O’Reilly Midwest All Star Series season.

Support classes will be celebrating increase in purse at the Benton Race Park opening night. The season opener will include Modifieds ($1,000 to win), Pure Street ($500 to win) and Pro-4 ($200 to win).

Dukes asks fans that when surfing the web for the official internet home of the new Benton Race Park to “Google,” “Benton Race Park, Benton Missouri.” The promoter states with all of the changes with the track and improvements to the overall appearance that they are currently working on a new website.
