Once again over one hundred racecars jammed the PIR pits as the fans enjoyed close, exciting dirt tracking on the high banked 3/8 mile oval.

UMP Late Models
Kevin Cole of Buckner, IL led the 20-lap feature from start to finish, winning his second main event of 2008. Youngster Dylan Thompson of Paducah won a duel for second spot over another Paducah driver, Randy Sellars. Cole, Thompson, and John Tindal won the heat races.

UMP Modifieds
What a night for Madisonville’s Bryce Jewell! On his eighteenth birthday, he won his first ever 15-lap Modified feature. After racing for the lead in the early going, Paul Miles of Owensboro and Hazel’s Justin Houston were second and third. Heat race winners were Miles, Jeff Elliott, and Steve Ladd.

UMP Crate (Pro) Late Models
Utica’s Josh Harris was another first time season winner in the 15-lap feature. Adam Ray of Ledbetter finished a close second with Calvert City’s Matt Liner third. Heat winners were Liner, Cary King, and Troy English.

UMP Street Stocks
For the second week in a row, Paul Howard of Calvert City captured the 12-lap feature, taking over the point on lap seven. Mike Watson of West Paducah was runner-up with Butch Gunther, also from West Paducah, third. Watson, Paul Humphrey, and Tony Cruse won the heats.

UMP Warriors
Make it four wins this season and three in a row for Paducah’s Matt Hartman, who led all ten laps. Keaton Downing of Gilbertsville was second, Jeffrey Bailey of Calvert City third. Hartman and James Scott won the heats.

The third in the NASCAR Night of Stars Series will be held this Thursday with special guests Tony Stewart, two-time Cup Champion and Ken Schrader, both part owners of PIR. The race program will include a UMP/MARS sanctioned Late Model feature paying $1500 to the winner. A Midwest Motorsports Classic, the “USA World 50”, is scheduled for this Friday with the UMP/MARS Late Model feature paying $5000 to win.

NASCAR Stars Dale Earnhardt, Jr, Ken Schrader, and Promoter Bob Sargent purchased Paducah International Raceway in November of 2005. Two-time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart joined the trio of co-owners as a partner in September of 2006. In 2008 the 3/8th mile high-banked oval hosts several high profile events including three NASCAR Nights of Stars, the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, the USA World 50, and the Tri-Track Challenge. PIR races every Friday night and is located off Interstate 24 at exit 11 in Paducah, Kentucky. For more information call the PIR hotline at (270) 448-4PIR or the track at (270) 898-SHOW (7469).
