Dirt track fans were thrilled as local racers and local preachers had the pedal to the metal Friday night at PIR.
Faster Pastor III
The third annual “preacher feature” produced the largest line-up yet of local clergymen competing against each other in Warrior racecars. Two five-lap races were necessary to accommodate all the pastors. Brian Moore of Melber Baptist Church defeated eight other ministers in the first race. Chris Wilson, a Youth Pastor at Pryorsburg Baptist Church, won the six-car second Faster Pastor race.
UMP Late Models
Even though he tapped the turn two wall on the initial lap, Benton’s Terry English won his third twenty-lap main event of the year. Paducah’s Jeff Walston was second with Fancy Farm’s John Tindal third. English, Walston, and Dylan Thompson won the heat races.

Yet another Calvert City driver, Jeffrey Bailey, became the third seven-time winner of the evening when he beat Keaton Downing of Gilbertsville and Jay Tindal of Fancy Farm to the finish line after ten laps. Downing, Tindal, and Chase Copeland won their heats.
Super Cell Mini Sprints
Brian Nance of Mayfield was a first time winner in the ten-lap feature. Paducah’s Jarrett Cathey and Clint Collins of Vienna, IL were second and third. Nance won the heat race.
Another six-division program is on tap next Friday, July 25, with five UMP divisions and the Vintage Racers. It will be Pepsi Midamerica Night, plus a special extra distance/increased purse feature will be presented for the Street Stock division. The Street Stock Special is sponsored by Feezor’s Restorations of Paducah.
NASCAR Stars Dale Earnhardt, Jr, Ken Schrader, and Promoter Bob Sargent purchased Paducah International Raceway in November of 2005. Two-time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart joined the trio of co-owners as a partner in September of 2006. Yet another Calvert City driver, Jeffrey Bailey, became the third seven-time winner of the evening when he beat Keaton Downing of Gilbertsville and Jay Tindal of Fancy Farm to the finish line after ten laps. Downing, Tindal, and Chase Copeland won their heats.
Super Cell Mini Sprints
Brian Nance of Mayfield was a first time winner in the ten-lap feature. Paducah’s Jarrett Cathey and Clint Collins of Vienna, IL were second and third. Nance won the heat race.
Another six-division program is on tap next Friday, July 25, with five UMP divisions and the Vintage Racers. It will be Pepsi Midamerica Night, plus a special extra distance/increased purse feature will be presented for the Street Stock division. The Street Stock Special is sponsored by Feezor’s Restorations of Paducah.
NASCAR Stars Dale Earnhardt, Jr, Ken Schrader, and Promoter Bob Sargent purchased Paducah International Raceway in November of 2005. Two-time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart joined the trio of co-owners as a partner in September of 2006. In 2008 the 3/8th mile high-banked oval hosts several high profile events including three NASCAR Nights of Stars, the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, the USA World 50, and the Tri-Track Challenge.
