Despite the fact that the NASCAR Night of Stars was cancelled Thursday, Friday night produced an overflowing pit area and outstanding dirt track racing.
Super Late Models – USA World 50
Brian Shirley of Chatham, IL took over the point on lap 39 of 50 and went on to win $5000. It was his second USA World 50 win, his first coming in 2006. Dennis Erb of Carpentersville, IL was runner-up with Terry Phillips of Springfield, MO third. Last year’s USA World 50 winner, Bill Frye, finished fourth. With 34 Late Models in attendance, four heats and two semi-features were necessary. Heat winners were Shirley, Randy Korte, Jason Feger, and Kevin Cole. Billy Moyer and Paducah’s Dylan Thompson won the semi’s.

Keaton Downing of Gilbertsville won his fourth ten lap main event of the year, snapping the Matt Hartman three-race streak. Jeffrey Bailey of Calvert City was second and Paducah’s Hartman finished third. Downing and Hartman were heat race winners.
PIR Officials are attempting to reschedule the rained out NASCAR Night of Stars from Thursday, August 21. When a date is confirmed, it will be released to all media.
Friday, August 29, PIR says “thank you” for a great season with its annual “Fan Appreciation Night”. Adult grandstand admission will be half price (just $5.00!). Three special extended distance feature races with increased purses are scheduled. For Street Stocks, the feature pays $500 to the winner and is sponsored by Feezor Restorations of Paducah. Modifieds will open up the five-race Summer Sizzler Series with $1000 for the winner. And the Warriors will be racing for a $400 purse, provided by Tri-State Construction and Larry Meadows Auto Body. Late Models, Crate Late Models, and Super Cell Mini Sprints are also on the program with regular distance and purse feature races.
NASCAR Stars Dale Earnhardt, Jr, Ken Schrader, and Promoter Bob Sargent purchased Paducah International Raceway in November of 2005. Two-time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart joined the trio of co-owners as a partner in September of 2006. In 2008 the 3/8th mile high-banked oval hosts several high profile events including three NASCAR Nights of Stars, the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, the USA World 50, and the Tri-Track Challenge. Warriors
Keaton Downing of Gilbertsville won his fourth ten lap main event of the year, snapping the Matt Hartman three-race streak. Jeffrey Bailey of Calvert City was second and Paducah’s Hartman finished third. Downing and Hartman were heat race winners.
PIR Officials are attempting to reschedule the rained out NASCAR Night of Stars from Thursday, August 21. When a date is confirmed, it will be released to all media.
Friday, August 29, PIR says “thank you” for a great season with its annual “Fan Appreciation Night”. Adult grandstand admission will be half price (just $5.00!). Three special extended distance feature races with increased purses are scheduled. For Street Stocks, the feature pays $500 to the winner and is sponsored by Feezor Restorations of Paducah. Modifieds will open up the five-race Summer Sizzler Series with $1000 for the winner. And the Warriors will be racing for a $400 purse, provided by Tri-State Construction and Larry Meadows Auto Body. Late Models, Crate Late Models, and Super Cell Mini Sprints are also on the program with regular distance and purse feature races.
NASCAR Stars Dale Earnhardt, Jr, Ken Schrader, and Promoter Bob Sargent purchased Paducah International Raceway in November of 2005. Two-time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart joined the trio of co-owners as a partner in September of 2006. In 2008 the 3/8th mile high-banked oval hosts several high profile events including three NASCAR Nights of Stars, the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, the USA World 50, and the Tri-Track Challenge.
