DES MOINES, IA (November 26) – Brian Brown will drive the #6 Casey’s General Stores Maxim next season, Parsons Motorsports announced Tuesday.
Brown won Knoxville Raceway’s 360 championship and was the division’s Rookie of the Year last season. He won nine feature races, including five in succession.
Brown, 24, is looking forward to racing with his uncle, 2001 World of Outlaws champion Danny Lasoski. Team owner Lonny Parsons says the team will start racing in Florida in February and compete with the World of Outlaws until Knoxville Raceway opens its season, then make a decision concerning the remainder of the year.
Danny Wood, the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year in 2000, raced for Parsons on the World of Outlaws tour last season. The Norman, OK, driver finished 12th in the point standings with 13 top-10 finishes, including three in the top five, while qualifying for 64 of 67 "A" Features. Wood says he is looking for a new team and hopes to be back racing with the series next year.
Kenny Woodruff, who maintained the #15 Parker Stores J&J for Donny Schatz for most of the 2002 season, is the new crew chief for Roth Motorsports’ #83JR OreCal/Beef Packers Eagle driven by Sammy Swindell.
Woodruff, the crew chief on Casey Luna’s World of Outlaws championship teams in 1989 and 1995, will work on the #83JR in his shop in Broken Arrow, OK. Swindell, who won World of Outlaws titles in 1981, 1982 and 1997, raced into the top 10 in 14 of 20 main events last season. His "A" Feature victory at Cedar Lake Speedway on July 8th was the 258th of his career. WoO
