Plexiglas or Acrylic windows?

What's up STL Racing,

Was wondering if anybody knew if Plexiglas or Acrylic windows would be legal (pass Missouri inspection) for replacing side windows on a car. We're currently in the process of trying to replace the passenger side window and would rather replace it with a Plexiglas or Acrylic. I believe this would save money, but also keep the window from shattering in the case of an accident or wreck. Thanks guys!

Windshield must be AS1, side and rear windows must be AS2 or greater. AS1 and AS2 are safety ratings of the glass. Greg

Well, when you take the car in for inspection have the window down. Would a car fail safety inspection if the mechanism for the window was broke??

They shatter for a reason... Plexi-glass breaks on impact... Lexan doesn't break but unless properly installed ae rivited or bolted to a frame work it could do some serious damage if it were to become airborne in an accident.

All glass must be DOT approved with the safety rating. The side windows do not haft to work BUT if closed the car/truck MUST have factory / working turn signals. I will try to post all the info from the MVI folder when I get to work.

You can usually get a side glass for $25-$50 or so and bold right in,AND BE LEGAL. So, why go out of your way to do otherwise? P.S. after getting burned by a tinted window that was rolled down on a 90 degree day, I ALWAYS roll them up, even though tinting is out of our hands nowadays....
