Ponderosa Speedway’s Colston Paving 60 Pays $7,500 to win for Late Models on Friday August 24

Junction City, KY- August 8, 2012- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Larry Yantz and co-promoters Chad and Sarah Yantz are pleased to announce more details concerning the upcoming event at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday August 24 as the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” will present the Colston Paving 60, paying $7,500 to win for Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models, along with $1,000 to win for Clayton Homes Modifieds and $500 to win for Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman. The Bob Allen Motor Mall Front Wheel Drives will not be on the schedule for this event.

The next scheduled event at Ponderosa Speedway will be on Friday August 24 and that event will feature the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models racing for $7,500 to win and $300 to start in the Colston Paving 60. The event will start 22 entries that will be determined from time trials, heats, and B-Mains. For this event only this season at Ponderosa Speedway, the Late Model division will utilize the tire rule of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. There will be no entry fee for the Late Model division for this event. All drivers will need to sign in at the registration window up arrival to the track and RACEceivers are mandatory. The highest finishing racer in the A-Main event utilizing a Crate powered entry will receive an extra $100 and the second-highest A-Main finisher that is powered by a Crate engine will receive an extra $50.

Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Model Payout: 1st- $7,500, 2nd- $3,850, 3rd- $2,000, 4th- $1,500, 5th- $1,000, 6th- $900, 7th- $800, 8th- $700, 9th- $600, 10th- $500, 11th- $450, 12th- $400, 13th- $375, 14th- $350, 15th- $325, 16th through 22nd- $300 to start

The Clayton Homes Modified division will also be in action on Friday August 24 and will compete in a $1,000 to win main event that will pay $100 to start. A total of 22 open-wheel competitors will take the green flag in the Modified A-Main, with that feature line-up determined by time trials, heats, and B-Mains. The rules for the Modified division for this event will be the same as they have been all season at Ponderosa Speedway and there will be no entry for the Modified division. All drivers will need to sign in at the registration window up arrival to the track and RACEceivers are mandatory.

Clayton Homes Modified Payout: 1st- $1,000, 2nd- $600, 3rd- $400, 4th- $350, 5th- $300, 6th- $250, 7th- $200, 8th- $175, 9th- $150, 10th- $140, 11th- $130, 12th- $120, 13th- $110, 14th through 22nd- $100 to start

The Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman division will also be in competition on Friday August 24 and will race for $500 to win and $50 to start in their main event. A total of 22 entries will start in the main event for the division. There will be no entry fee for the Sportsman division. Beginning with the August 24 event, the rules for the Sportsman division will be opened up to allow clip cars to compete, along with cars that have aluminum after-market bodies and also for those that may sport a “Late Model” style body. Those cars that have a standard frame/chassis will have to weigh 3,200 lbs., while those cars that have a clip/tube type chassis will have to weigh 3,300 lbs. and the extra 100 lbs. must be placed in front of the motor plate. All other track rules that have been in effect all season up to this point will still apply for the class. All drivers will need to sign in at the registration window up arrival to the track and RACEceivers are mandatory.

Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Sportsman Payout: 1st- $500, 2nd- $300, 3rd- $200, 4th- $150, 5th- $125, 6th- $100, 7th- $90, 8th- $80, 9th- $70, 10th- $60, 11th- $55, 12th through 22nd- $50 to start

Activities for the Friday August 24 Colston Paving 60 event will see both the pit area and general admission area open at 4:00 p.m. The driver’s meeting will be at 7:00 p.m., with practice set to begin at 7:20 p.m. Time trials will get underway at 7:45 p.m., with racing set to take the green flag at 8:30 p.m. Ticket prices for the August 24 Colston Paving 60 event in the general admission area will be $25 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 12, and children ages 5 and under will be free. A pit pass will be $40.

Ponderosa Speedway last raced on Friday July 27 and feature event winners included Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models, Tommy Bailey of Corbin, KY in Clayton Homes Modifieds, Bartley Grant of Berea, KY in Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman, and Rodney Foltz of Florence, KY in Bob Allen Motor Mall Front Wheel Drives.

Current track championship points leaders heading into the Friday August 24 racing event are Michael Chilton of Salvisa, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models, Elliott Despain of Campbellsville, KY in Clayton Homes Modifieds, Donnie Sullivan of Stanford, KY in Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman, and Brandon Holt of New Haven, KY in Bob Allen Motor Mall Front Wheel Drives.

Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, outside of Junction City, KY, just minutes from Danville, KY.
