Ponderosa Speedway Hosts Inaugural American Modified Series Event on April 2

Glasgow, KY-March 28, 2010- After much anticipation since the announcement of its formation back in January, the time to race has finally arrived for the newly formed American Modified Series presented by Force for Fuel and the series’ first-ever event is set to take place Friday April 2 at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY. The event will be the Arizona Sport Shirts 30 and will pay the AMS feature winner $1,500 and will being paying $200 to start.

Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY will be the site of the series premier event of its existence on Friday evening April 2. Events at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday April 2 will include practice, one lap of SPEC Race Engines group time trials, Wehr’s Machine and Racing Products, PPM Racing Products, Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil, Wiles Driveshafts, Hypercoil Springs, and Willy’s Carbs qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the 30 lap/$1,500 to win, $200 to start Arizona Sport Shirts 30 A-Main. Local divisions in action on April 2 will include Super Late Models ($1,500 to win) and Pro Late Models ($800 to win). There will also be a $1,000 to win event for the UMP Modified division at Ponderosa Speedway the night after the Spring 30 on Saturday April 3.

As an added attraction for race fans, Force Fuel and Engine Conditioner will have representatives at the track and will be offering a special race fan promotion package that will include one free race ticket with the purchase of a 32 ounce bottle of Force Fuel Engine Conditioner, normally priced at $46 per bottle, but specially priced for this event at $30 per bottle, a $5 discount on a $10 race simulator package, as Force Fuel will also have its race simulator on the grounds and entry into a drawing for one of two University of Kentucky basketballs autographed by former UK basketball standout Jeff Sheppard, who will also be on the grounds to meet and greet the race fans and to sign autographs from 6:00 until 8:30 p.m.

Activities for the April 2 Ponderosa Speedway date will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m., while the general admission area will open at 5:00 p.m. The driver’s meeting will be at 6:45 p.m., with practice at 7:00 p.m., followed by time trials at 7:30 p.m., with racing set to begin at or before 8:30 p.m. Ticket prices for this event will be $15 for adults and $30 in the pit area.

The A-Main purse for the Friday April 2 Ponderosa Speedway Spring 30 is as follows: 1st- $1,500, 2nd- $1,000, 3rd- $800, 4th- $700, 5th- $600, 6th- $575, 7th- $550, 8th- $525, 9th- $500, 10th- $400, 11th- $350, 12th- $300, 13th- $275, 14th- $250, 15th through 24th- $200 to start

Known as "Kentucky's Baddest Bullring", Ponderosa Speedway is a 3/8 mile red clay oval promoted by Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz. Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane, just south of Danville, KY off of KY Hwy. 127. Visitors will turn onto KY Hwy. 300, proceed left on KY Hwy. 37, then 1.5 miles to Phillips Lane.
