SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (Sept. 22) – Rain on Wednesday afternoon and into the early evening has forced officials to cancel Wednesday night’s practice session at the Deer Creek Speedway in preparation for the 12th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

“It’s too wet to turn any laps tonight,” said United States Modified Touring Series president Todd Staley. “We’re going to do what we can in order to get a practice session in early Thursday afternoon.

“We’ll start as early as Mother Nature will allow us to shape up the racing surface on Thursday morning and hopefully let the drivers start practicing around the noon hour..”

Three complete shows are on tap for Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Thursday's 30-lap USMTS Modified main event carries a $3,000 top prize and pays a minimum of $400 to each of the 30 starters (up from $300 last year).

Gates open at 3 p.m. on Thursday with racing slated for 5 p.m.

On Friday, the USMTS Modifieds will compete in a 35-lap feature race with $5,000 earmarked for the winner and $500 for each of the 30 starters (up from $350 last year).

Gates open at 4 p.m. on Friday and the first green flag waves at 5:30.

Friday’s menu will kick off with the annual golf tournament at 9 a.m. at the Maple Valley Golf and County Club in Rochester. Fans, drivers, crews and families will put a lid on Friday’s festivities with the annual Karaoke Night … open to everybody.

Saturday's explosive finale will feature the hottest dirt Modified pilots in the nation battling for one of 30 spots in the 40-lap main event that will take the green flag three cars wide and ten rows deep. Drivers will battle for a $7,000 top prize and at least $800 (up from $700 last year) just to take the green flag.

And if that wasn’t enough, Saturday’s non-qualifiers will have a chance at one of 30 spots in the Non-Qualifiers Race, which carries a $2,000 top prize and pays $400 to start (up from $300 last year) ... that’s more than most “big” Modified races pay to win their main event.

Hanson Tire Service – your one-stop, on-the-spot auto service headquarters for a complete line of quality tires and auto services – has kicked in more than $3,000 to this year’s purse, adding an additional $1,000 to the winner and $500 to the runner-up in both Friday’s and Saturday’s main events.

For years, Hanson Tire has provided the latest products and unprecedented service for everything they sell, and that’s why their customers keep coming back. WISSOTA national points will be awarded all three nights for the WISSOTA Midwest Mods. Thursday's main event will pay $300 to win, Friday’s top prize is $400 to win and Saturday’s “A” Main winner will earn $1,500.

Carroll's Corn will also present a cash award of $200 on Saturday to the WISSOTA Midwest Mod driver who traveled the most miles to the event, plus additional $200 cash to the “hard charger” in Saturday’s “A” Main.

The annual Bean Bag Tournament begins earlier in the day on Saturday at 12 noon with registration at 11 a.m. near the campground.

Fans can begin storming the gates on Saturday at 3 p.m. and the mud starts flying at 5:00.

In addition to the unparalleled payoff for the USMTS Modifieds, several other special awards and bonuses will also be doled out.

The “It’s All About The Show, Baby!” Award will be presented each night to the driver that puts the crowd in awe by his or her performance. This award could be a crash or a daring move … it could happen in a heat race, “B” Main or “A” Main … something that made people say ‘Wow!’ and stand up and take notice.

The “Sharpest Crew Award” will go to either a race team or a team of fans in the stands.

Any past Featherlite Fall Jamboree Saturday “A” Main winner gets a $1,000 bonus to win this Saturday’s “A” Main. If a new first-time winner emerges, the award will go to $2,000 in 2011.

One provisional will be awarded to a past champion that fails to qualify for Saturday’s “A” Main. Past champions include Tim Donlinger, Dean Mahlstedt, Chad Kinder, Jason Hughes, Kelly Shryock, Dan Daniels, Mark Noble, Willy Kraft, Johnny Saathoff and Ron Jones. If more than one past champion is present and failed to make Saturday's “A” Main, one driver's name will be drawn at random prior to the start of Saturday's “A” Main.

Ruter Farms has stepped up to support the USMTS drivers and teams again this year with the Ruter Farms Long Tow Bonus – a cash award of $200 that will be paid to each of the 10 teams ($2,000 total) which travel the most miles to the Featherlite Fall Jamboree.

Any driver failing to make any “A” Main or Saturday's Non-Qualifiers Race gets a $150 bonus if he or she raced all three nights.

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, breakfast will be served by the Bear Creek Lutheran Church in the hospitality area from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. All proceeds benefit the Bear Creek Men’s Club. Open to all … you don’t want to miss this great home-cooked opportunity.
