Proposed changes to STLRacing.com user accounts to help with rediculous posts!

To be allowed to post on this board is a privilage not a "right".

To those who site "Freedom of Speech" you should remember that freedom of speech ends were private property begins and is limited by laws of disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, slander and libel http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slander, and others. As this forom is the property of J. Dearing, he not only has the authority to define what is disorderly or disturbing but also the authority to remove the disorderly or disturbing members and the responsibility to remove any libelous statements.

Allowing obnoxious post to continue would be at the risk of loseing a larger part of the membership. ( just like allowing drivers who are set on destruction on the race track)

Some people need to be 'Black Flagged' from this site for rough posting and given a week or a year off. But because it is so easy to sneak back in somekind of 'verify' should be done.

Ebay has reputation score. Paypal has verification.
To earn the privilage to post on this discussion module of this board, one should have reputation, verification, or sponsorship (the extension of another's reputation). We are automatically cordial when we take our masks off. Most of us are.

If new members had their post previewed and approved before displayed then much of this problem would disappear.
Not to mention(God Forbid) if it ever came to someone taking physical action from a post, and the post and posters were never delt with and or removed from the site by the owner before physical action took place.....Jimmy him self could be named in a lawsuit !!!!

Just wondering......I have not logged on since last Wednesday, but when I logged on today, it asked for my "real full name". Is this one of the changes? Not that I really care, pretty much everyone on here knows who I am, but just wondering if that was one of the changes?

Threads like this would never exist if this was a pay site and this is part of what stlracing.com is all about and the kind of thing I know we all like to see on this site more interest and people were able to inform them.

i disagree. i think there would be more threads like this one. if a person has to pay say 10 bucks to register do you think they are going to register a bunch of different user names just so they can stir up crap? if your stuck with one user name with your real name attached to it maybe you don't attack somebody on here. and if some bone head still wants to pay to have several user names to stir it up then at least jimmy will get paid to put up with it. may need to make it 20 bucks though. i for one would gladly pay.

I am pretty sure posts like that are one of many reasons this site is what it is today.

This is a universal well of knowledge for the St. Louis Metro area. Whether it be race scores, rain outs, track locations, gossip, whining and moaning, or trying to find out where a good track is to take your kids and see a good show, this site is here to help you. The racing community has grown leaps and bounds the last decade. I think Jimmy has a big part to do with that. This website has played a hub in a lot of decisions whether you are the racer or the watcher.

I think maybe what we need to consider is a view all forum, free to anyone. (This guarantees newbies and out of towners the opportunity to ask questions and post as well.)
Then, there is an enhanced membership. You will have to pay, identify yourself and moderate yourself. It is about being responsible for your own. This isn't any different than everyday life. Anyone can say or do whatever they want; just remember: In life, there are repercussions!
There would be a members only area and this way everyone will be able to get something out of this site.

I havent read all the posts to this thread, only the first few. So I may be repeating others opinion, but here goes.

This site is so great because of the way it currently is. Change it, and it will become a lame site. I always have and always will, only use my real name. But thats me. Others do what they will, I dont care. It makes it fun to hear all the criticism and scarcasm. If I had to pay a dime I wouldnt subscribe, so you would no longer hear my opinion. I support the advertisers here, that should be enough. I'm sure if it was a pay site, even a dollar!! the member list would dwindle to only a few dozen rather than what? hundreds, Thousands.

And it could be that Jimmy D has thrown this out there hoping that the troublemakers will see it and reform, so to speak. If so, it seems to be working.

No, I think Jimmy Dearing is quite serious. Some of the steps he's implemented already are helping, I believe. Making this a pay site would be the last straw.

I didnt mean this thread I ment the one I posted the link for in my reply. Someone brand new to the area with a little bit of intrest and some questions is not going to pay ten dollars to ask where the local race tracks are or where to go etc. This is one of the best things about this site it has lead me to venture on to more race tracks then I had before. This affect carries on I am sure to other people then just me and to new race fnas and dirt racing needs fans before there is no more some day. I dont care what any of you say I am a big fan of forums and read many forums in a days time. I have seen it to many times before start charging then all you end up with is the same people arguing about the same crap. I read a r/c forum for a couple years very populated lots of posts always viewing members then they decided to charge. Site died. Hope this doesnt happen here cause I LIKE THIS DAMN SITE. You can call me whatever name you want or disagree with me or flame me all day but thats what a forum is and I could care less what you say its my opinion.
