FARMINGTON, Mo. -- (Sept. 10, 2005) Following the results of the races at the St. Francois County Raceway on Saturday night there are still some point races to close to call with just two weeks remaining in the points season.
In the Modified class, Mike Francis of Fredericktown (driving the #1 modified) passed Jeremy Greenwalt of Potosi (#18x modified) in the point standings just one week after Greenwalt had jumped into the lead. Francis owns a slim four-point advantage over Greenwalt (954-950) in the battle for the Modified class championship.
On the track Saturday night, Brent Thompson of Farmington was the winner of the Modified class feature with Alan Conner second, Kenny Kennedy third, Francis was fourth with Tommy Worley Sr. fifth. They were followed by John Bohn, Greenwalt, Chris Boyd, Kasey Nations and Jon Paul Reando. Francis won the first heat race with Bohn second and Conner third. Boyd won the second heat race with Kasey Burch second and Kennedy third. Greenwalt won the third heat race with Thompson second and Worley third.
Worley is third in points with 860 followed by Bohn (796), Thompson (786), Kennedy (762), Burch (658), Conner (628), Boyd (586), Reando (526) and Pete Koenig (500).
In the Sportsmen class, Matt Eaton of Park Hills holds an 18-point advantage over 2004 track champion Doug Savage of Farmington (908-890). On the track Saturday it was Kenny Harris of Desloge picking up his first feature win of the season at SFCR by holding off Randy Forster for the victory. It was his 99th feature win of his long racing career. Eaton finished third with Leonard Betsch fourth and Savage fifth. They were followed by Kevin Mosier, Chris West, Donnie Mosier and Chris Boyd. Harris also won the heat race with Forster second and Betsch third. Forster is third in points with 838 followed by Betsch (818), Kevin Mosier (796), Kasey Nations (682), Donnie Mosier (652), Kyle Stolzer (438), Harris (386), West (356) and Eric Sarakas (254).
In the 600cc Multi class, Andy Moss of Fredericktown holds a 28-point lead over Tom Dickerman (854-826) in the points race. In racing action Saturday, Joey Boyd of Farmington won the feature with Jimmy Bridgeman second, Dustin Barks third, Brian Steele fourth and Dickerman fifth. They were followed by Moss, Brody Stewart, Rodney Williams, Mark Shirshekan and Ron Slade. Boyd won the first heat race with Williams second and Stewart third. Steele won the second heat with Shirshekan second and Rob Baldwin third. Bridgeman won the third heat with Keith Steele second and Barks third. Boyd is third in the points race with 726 followed by Williams (662), Barks (662), Bridgeman (554), Ray Statler (528), Brian Keen (462), Brad Greer (454), Jeremy Boyer (396), Derek King (380) and Brian Steele (356).
The two classes where the track championship is nearly locked up are the Sprints and the Pure Streets.
In the Sprint class, Joey Montgomery of Fredericktown leads Tommy Worley Jr. of Bismarck by 102 points (1008-906). On the track Saturday, Timmy Montgomery sailed to victory in the feature with Jimmy Hurley second, Terry Babb third, Worley Jr. fourth and Joey Montgomery fifth. They were followed by A.J. Bruns, Keith Burch, Steve Short, Tim Moss and Jason Keith. Babb won the first heat race with Worley second and Hurley third. Timmy Montgomery won the second heat with Bruns second and Moss third. Joey Montgomery won the third heat with Daniel Adler second and Burch third. Babb won the trophy dash with Timmy Montgomery second and Worley third. Dustin Adams won the "B" main with Gary Altig second and Jimmy Brayton Jr. third. Timmy Montgomery is third in points with 884 followed by Hurley (836), Burch (704), Keith (696), Short (616), Bob Thoman (604), Jerrod Hull (564), Adler (484), Bruns (482) and Bryan Matthews (450).
In the Pure Street class, Mark Todd of Jackson has locked up the inaugural 2005 championship at SFCR during the class' inaugural season at SFCR as he leads Chris Webb by 144 points with just the two weeks remaining (896-752). On the track Saturday it was Mike Savage of Annapolis picking up the checkered flag in the feature with Bill Skaggs second, Ray Dodd third, Todd fourth and Travis Goodman fifth. They were followed by Shawn Griffin, Derek Shipman, Ryan Robbins, Josh Skaggs and Jeremy Womble. Charlie Savage won the first heat race with Mike Savage second and Robbins third. Goodman won the second heat with Dodd second and Webb third. Michael Abney won the third heat race with Bill Skaggs second and Shipman third. In the points race, Abney is third with 746 points followed by Shipman (704), Bill Skaggs (630), Mike Savage (602), Robbins (560), Theran Pearl (554), Chris Boyd (422), Wayne Frymire (404), Allen King (394) and Josh Skaggs (374).
This Saturday night is Pepsi Night at SFCR and Fan Appreciation Night. Admission to the grandstands is just $5 for adults with kids 12 & under free. There will also be a "Nickle Race" at intermission for the kids with the drivers from SFCR donating a ton of special prizes for all the kids participating. There will also be free music and a huge bonfire in the infield following the races.
