Racing with high price of gas.

With the estimated price of gas going to $3.00 to $3.80 THIS SUMMER How will it effect your racing program?

Its one reason i bought a motorcycle. I knew this was coming. Been to alot of seminars and let me tell you........noone has one answer to why gas is sooooo high. One guy says its due to china and their demand for fossil fules. Another says its due to the weak US dollar. Funny thing is.................all the oil companies are still making record breaking profits. To me........its all about greed. I also seen a great demonstration which shows we have enough oil now to keep us running for another 200 years.........at current useage. And thats not tapping new resource areas. That is using what is being pumped now. All this is going to do is raise goods(which are up anyway) put strains on businesses which haul goods....and make everyone tighten their belts more. Kinda funny how they thought reducing our input to social security was going to put more money in our pockets to spend. But then............wammo. They drop this. Plus.........Illinois raised their personal income tax 66 percent. Now i see where our lovely goverment is going to let state go bankrupt. So........if Illinois goes chapter 11 and wipes the books clean..........why do they need to raise the taxes to cover the hole they dug in the first place?

Also.......got a real nice lecture on Ameren.............our power company. They give people rebates for buying energy saving appliances. Ok..........so if everyone uses less energy.......then how is Ameren going to deal with it as far as loss of production? This is what i was told. They wont lay off workers. They will keep the same personel. With lower profits............they are going to jack up electric bills yearly(just did in Missouri) to make up for the difference. But they wont tell me nor you this. They have done this before and will again. They are in bed with so many officials we wont have a fight. So......this will be the next thing. Their production is already 10 percent down due to people and businesses cutting energy costs. If you work for Ameren..................i dont have a personal beef with them. Just angers me noone will give you a straight answer as to why they do this.......or that. Like a majician with the slide of the hand trick. Im on budget billing. Ive reduced my useage roughly 100 bucks a month with a new furnace a/c and some windows. They keep flopping my bill back and forth but i still come out 200 or so ahead. Here is what i think they are doing. Taking the extra money(roughly 20 or so extra a month)..........from me and others.....investing it and getting whatever interest rate they can.......then rebating it after 6 months. Slide of the hand.

Dont get me wrong either.......i like their crews and they work their butts off especially when storms are about. Just a big company deal.

think about the ression, where did it start AT THE GAS PUMP....the prez at the time did nothing,,lets hope bro bamma does something as the next time will be far worse than before

None of them have ever admitted that's what got the ball rolling and "bro bamma" will do the same thing Bush did, NOTHING!

good post mike; most racers are local, so, like the rest of us, they will b*tch about the gas prices, but they will pay it. after all, most of the guys around are within an hour or so of whatever track they support. i see it as a non-issue. as far as the ameren thing, i hate with a passion writing them a check every month. thats why i love my chainsaws so much, so i can go out, get wood, and use my fireplace as much as humanly possible. it's something i can do to stick it in their asses as much as they stick it in ours.(figuratively speaking, of course). my electric and gas bills together are around $125 a month in the dead of winter. not bad, im thinking. let me tell a little story. this actually happened last summer. i was out in the yard doing outside work, and there was a loud boom , sounded like it right behind me. scared the sh*t out of me.. the next door neighbors tree branch laid against the power pole transformer and fried something. about 30 mins later, a truck showed up; about 30 mins after that, the guy got out of the truck, got his extendable pole, hooked onto the tree branch, moved it away from the power line, got back in his truck. another truck showed up(now 2) they talked for about 20 mins. and after about 30 more minutes, they both left.. total time on site. about 2 hours. total time actually doing something.. less than 3 minutes. they didnt even cut the branch off.. just moved it away from whatever it touched. so, it will happen again.. just need the right wind direction. my thinking is, we are paying outlandish rates to a company whos employees sit on their ****s 95% 0f the time. this is a true story. so. my thinking is "F" ameren and their frequent rate hikes.

I agree. I do wish they would look into the high prices. But.....most will be looking into their own mirrors as to why its going on im afraid.

I like racin!!! I dont drink ((often) ,only have 1 woman, dont smoke , have a steady job(Thanks God) ,,,,I am racin!!! Its the only thing addictave we do did ya get the WE LOL

I just dont get how they are going to let states go chapter 11......wipe the books clean.....but yet raise taxes. Makes no sense.

it probably wont affect my racing a whole lot. i still plan to make a few trips to indiana, hopefully i will be able to have the mod going and make it to some of the summer nationals races, and maybe another race down in oklahoma. the key is making a few nights at once, like going to bloomington indiana on a friday and staying somewhere and going to brownstown saturday night, which is about 45 minutes away. or like going to farmer city on a friday, fairbury saturday and shepps on the way home

Just curious...who was conducting these lectures and seminars and who are they affiliated with? Sounds like the teabaggers to me.

By filing bankruptcy, the only slate wiped clean is the debt. States are not paying back their debtors anyway, so it will not free up money in their budget to pay for other expenses as you would be inclined to believe.

Every state has an operational budget to meet and each state must finance it somehow. Most are not able to do so as a result of a decrease in tax revenues due to a struggling economy. This is largely the reason most states are currently in or nearing bankruptcy. It is not neccissarily the result of irresponsible overspending. Without doing any reasearch, I'm willing to bet that those states in question have already trimmed their budgets and eliminated the fat. In this economy, how else would you suggest those states finance their budget without raising taxes?

What would you suggest they not finance next???

Perhaps cutting the budget for law enforcement is a good alternative. This is what has happened (at the local level) in my county. It's not a good situation, and it will only get worse as people around hear have begun turning to theivery in order to feed their families.

It may not be a popular one, and I know I don't like it either. But an increase in tax may be the only reasonable answer.

May be he will close down ALL THE OIL WELLS, AND YOU'LL BE RACING GOLF CARTS AROUND BELL CLAIR??

Quote from paperwork i have...........A.A recent video by Lindsey Williams, author of “The Energy Non-Crisis” is here: Another video is here. I suggest you listen carefully to what Chaplain Williams says. This is a 28-second audio clip from a videotape quoting the Governor of Alaska on a March 18, 2005 TV show: “There is potentially enough crude oil on the north slope of Alaska to last the United States of America for 200 years“. Thanks to “Katman” for providing this copy of “The Energy Non Crisis” You might ask your members of congress why the United States is importing oil.

And..Illinois was in big trouble before the recession. It just added to it. By going chapter 11........puts it back to square 1.....and they should be DEMANDED to revamp their policies towards employment........expense accounts ect before slapping any new taxes on anyone. I dont mind putting us on a more even keel with other states. But man......do some cost cutting before smacking anymore taxes on anyone.

Not to mention BP oil company spent ONE DAYS profit cleaning oil spill in gulf of mexico. And BP stands for british petroliem people wich means every dollar in bp gas station goes straight to britian.....not the u.s.a. so next time you go to fill up remember this. also....86% of our crude oil comes from canada. It is the refineries makeing all the money in this country. all they half to do is slow the flow of oil to america and call it rise in demand. when really it is price gouging ant a level we would never understand. OH..if you knew how much fuel we spend in sending fuel to middle east it would blow your mind away especialy since the worlds largest oil reserve is already over there.Tell me the oil companys arent in the goverments pocket!
