BRUNSWICK, GA – Heavy rains and dangerous lightning washed out the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series event Friday night at Golden Isle Speedway. There were 44 StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series machines in staging for qualifications when the rains came.
The brief downpour soaked the new clay surface on the 5/8-mile oval, and track officials were feverously working to prepare the race track when a second line of storms rolled in to force the cancellation of the event.
The StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series will return to Golden Isle Speedway on Saturday night for its regularly scheduled event. The washed out Friday night race will not be rescheduled. The qualifying draw for the Friday night show will be used for the Saturday night event. The pit gate will open at 12 noon, with hot laps at 4 p.m., and racing at 6 p.m.
