Randle Sweeney picks up first UMP Late Model win of season at Clarksville Speedway

Randle Sweeney of Clifty, Kentucky picked up his first UMP Late Model feature event win of the 2006 season on Saturday night April 1 at the Clarksville Storm Pay.com Speedway in Clarksville, Tennessee. Other event winners included Clayton Miller of Elkton, Kentucky in the UMP Open Wheel Modifieds, Charles Zimmerman in the Pro-Street division, Tony Albright of Clarksville, Tennessee in the Crate Late Model class, Eric Wright in the Outlaw Mini Sprints division, Mike Neighbors of Hopkinsville, Kentucky in the Street Stock division, Micah Smith of Erin, Tennessee in the Mini-Mod Feature event, and Mike Deala in the Pure Mini Feature racing event.

With well over 100 race cars flooding the pit area on Saturday night at Clarksville Speedway, the great weather in the area played true and racing was fast and furious. In the UMP Late Model racing division, 17 race-cars entered time trials and Tony Albright of Clarksville, Tennessee picked up the fast time award with a time of 13:261 seconds. The Dash event was won by Randle Sweeney over Tony Albright and Jeff Glisson. Heat-1 was won by Rusty Griffaw over Perry Delaney of Sparta, Tennessee. Heat-2 was won by Jarryd Holshouser of Hollybush, Kentucky, the 2005 Northern Allstars Late Model Racing Series Rookie of the Year driver, over Duke Wright, and Dave Crawford. Randle Sweeney won the exciting Late Model feature event over Benton, Kentucky's Terry English, Tony Albright of Clarksville, Tennessee, Jeff Glisson, and Rusty Griffaw.

The UMP Open Wheel Modified Feature event was won by Clayton Miller of Elkton, Kentucky in the Wilson's Printworks sponsored # 15 race-car. Miller took the win over Michael Lee of Paris, Tennessee, and Gregg Brown of Burns, Tennessee. Fast Time in Qualifications was Michael Lee taking a 14:474 seconds lap. The Dash was won by Clayton Miller. Heat-1 was won by Ronnie Falloway over Tom Wilson, and Dennis Milligan.

The Crate Late Model division was won by Tony Albright of Clarksville, Tennessee driving the Beachaven Towing sponsored # 1 Late Model taking the win over Steven Ashby of Cunningham, Tennessee. Third in the event was Brian Caudle of Clarksville, Tennessee in the Beach Oil and RC Cola sponsored # RC1. Fast time was Tony Albright with a 13:894 seconds.

The Pro-Street feature winner was Chales Zimmerman taking the win over Tommy Harris, and Dale Phillips. Fast Time of the 12 entrants was Zimmerman with a 14:532 seconds. The Mini-Sprints had 24 entries on hand and Eric Wright of Goodletsville, Tennessee took the feature event win over Rick King of Vienna, Illinois, and Chris Hunter of Salem, Kentucky, last years points champion was third.

The Street Stock feature winner was Mike Neighbors of Hopkinsville, Kentucky taking the win over Jeff Joiner of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, and third was Robert Phillips of Clarksville, Tennessee. 17 entries was on hand for the Street Stock event. Micah Smith of Erin, Tennessee took the Mini-Mod feature win over Kyle Fleming of Ashland City, Tennessee and third was Michael Perrigo of Erin, Tennessee. The Pure-Mini Feature event winner was Mike Deala taking the win over Michael Perrigo, and Bobby Dennis.

Next Saturday night April 8, 2006 the Clarksville Storm Pay.com Speedway in Clarksville, Tennessee will feature a complete show of UMP Super Late Models, Crate Late Models, UMP Open Wheel Modifieds, Street Stocks, Pro-Streets, Pure Mini's, Mini-Mod's, and Outlaw Mini Sprint's. The Open Wheel Modified Summer Series event will take place this Saturday paying $2,000 to win for the Modifieds.
