(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) The Ray Cook Racing team entered only one single event over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, as they traveled to the Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee on Saturday evening, May 25. The Ultimate Super Late Model Series presided over a $4,000 to win showdown at SMS. Ray Cook timed in tenth fastest in Ultimate qualifying and later won his B-Main to earn the outside fifth row starting spot for the feature event. During the course of the 40-lapper, Ray was able to work his #53 MasterSbilt entry past seven competitors on his way to a third place effort behind only winner Dillon Wood and runner-up Billy Ogle, Jr. Complete results from Smoky Mountain can be accessed online at www.ultimatesupers.com.
Another Saturday night tussle will greet the #53 team on June 1, as Ray is set to compete in the inaugural ‘Scott Sexton Memorial’ at the ultra-fast Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee. The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series (SAS) will sanction the one-day program, which boasts a $5,200 payday. A complete show featuring qualifying, consolation races, and a 52-lap feature event will be held to honor East Tennessee racing legend Scott Sexton, who passed away in January of this year.
