Rock Branch Raceway closed ?

I heard last nite from a good source that Rock Branch Raceway is done for. All of the fencing, lights and tech shed have been removed from the site. I hope that this not true, but sure seems like it.

That is sad. I heard that the HMR clone series was going to run there through-out the summer. Not may places to run now. You've got StatePond, with there lack of rules and joke of safety concern. Hopefully Rockbranch will open up. Hearing of a track opening up by Hogue, should be fun there.

I agree, loosing JYI is very sad!! We're racing every Fri. @ Bedrock. There's always Bell-Rive also on Fri.(starting May) I heard that Wayne City is going to race karts every Sat. night. That's an option available.Hopefully things will come together in Coulterville sometime soon.

I also have heard form a VERY reliable source that they are not opening....it is sad because I drove out and seen the track and it looked amazing.....just like lasoski in warrensburg, mo.

As for other options there is Statepond....but as Ray said lack of rules and regard for safety there has made it a joke. Bedrock will run Fridays but maybe with Coulterville not running they will do some saturday stuff (I know they have 1 race on a saturday for the HMR kart deal in May). Wayne City was supposed to be running every Saturday but I have not heard of the papers being signed yet. Belle Rive is always an option but his clone rules are different than anyone elses so I am not legal there with my clone. Their rules mandate shoe clutch and they don't allow timing, CL-1, or taller yellow spring (plus the motor has to be blue).....now they do have a class posted for the CL-1, taller 10.8 springs but it is still a shoe clutch. I hope the track gets enough people to race because it would truely be a shame if they had to close. This is where most (alot) of us got our start and I have great respect for that and I would hate to see it close from lack of karts.

I hate to see this happening in southern illinois....everybody had their rules SO close but now its going to the pot....Belleville, HMR Series, and Wayne City will all have same rules (or so I have heard) except Wayne City has said probably single stage header only. These tracks have also said open clutch CL-1 allowed and timing as long as key is present allowed. I don't know what Stateponds rules are (if they have any) for the clones but I know I am not buying a drum clutch just to run at Belle Rive.

Maybe ray can chime in with the rules at Statepond....but I hope we can get everyone on board with the same rules so we can all race everywhere with the lack of tracks available.....long winded I know but I just had to voice my opinion.

Can't wait to start the season and go racing!

Frank at bedrock is talking about switching to sat. nights, i know he wants to talk to the racers to get their opinion before he does anything. I believe it would be a huge benefit for karting in st louis to do so i believe the kart count will get back up to 80 karts a night. Look for big things at bedrock this year there is some planning i think you all will like for later on in the year.

Good point....however, I would like to be able to switch drivers without spending $35-$40 for a new drum side of the clutch....the cheapest clutch that does that is $100....plus with the amount we planned on running there its not worth it. The money is not there this year like it has been in the past to do some of the things we used to. I would rather focus on HMR, bedrock, princeton, and maybe wayne city (if they open).

Plus even if I had a clutch...if he ain't getting any in the "built" class I am not legal for his version of the box stock.

Are you guys gonna run Belleville the 23rd?

The Friday / Saturday topic was brought up a long time ago on Bedrock. Can't say eather way but that was 1 reason we decided not to race dirt.I haft to work Sat. mornings and can't stay out late Fri. nights . Would love to see a Sat. night racing. Maybe someone down south Mo. around Pevely would open a dirt kart track that would be cool to. I think Bedrock is a nice place. Doing a great job there Frank we love coming by to watch the races.

saturday would be good for us now if I could get someone to stamp burris 33 on the side or these maxxis life would be good Jeff Gay

You seem to have more problems than that, Blaze. You haven't raced since you blew your motor at Wayne City. But you always have something to sell. Put a kart together and come racing. no more excuses. lol

Haha i raced at bellerive after that?? And i got 3 karts done in the garage right now, Well be at phils but ill have to run one of them cheapo max torque clutchs haha. Me and both of my brothers will be racing, I didnt race much last year cuz i sold my kart.

i too get up at 4am for saturday morning work.would be able to points race for a class championship if races were sat. night. otherwise will have to settle racing bedrock occasionally until one of the sat. night tracks gets going. bedrock has the best track running and hate not being able to make it weekly.

I am getting ready to start racing at Bedrock full time this year. The only reason I am interested in driving an hour and a half to race every week is because they race on Friday nights! I work every sat. and it would be impossible to run a full series. I just found out about bedrock at the end of last year. The only reason I wasnt there this week was because of Semo.
