Rohn Moon captures 60th Anniversary season opener at Macon Speedway

Rohn Moon made the long trek from Greenwood, Indiana to visit the Mighty Macon Speedway tonight marking its 60th year of operation during the 2005 season.

After the postponement of the Icebreaker at the Brownstown Speedway, Moon, itching to make laps, made the haul and brought along one of his recent supprters, Fred King to witness the domination that would be by the Moon Power #56 team.

After touring the tiny speedplant with a time of 10.867 to record the evenings fast time, Moon went on to win his heat and was the class of the field in the 25 lap feature event, mastering the beautifully prepared track surface that stayed nice and smooth all night long. Moon was wheeling a C.J. Rayburn chassied, Moon Powered machine for the win. Following him at the stripe was Jason Feger, Eric Smith, Mike Mudd and Jayme Zidar who rounded out the top 5.

The modified feature was won by long time veteran and multiple time track champion Jim Leka in the h2o All - Service Contracting special over Johnny Kolthaus, Jammie Wilson, Todd Kirkland, Aaron Burcham, Wendell Zulauf, Jeff King and Joe Strawkas.

2004 track champion Greg Kimmons won the sportsman feature ahead of Scott Landers, Mike Pickering, Steve Ewing, Shhane Tomlin, Tracy Peveler and Jeff Graham.

The street stock class was topped by Larry Russell over Jim Farley and Randy Ewing.
