FARMINGTON, Mo. -- (Feb. 10, 2004) The St. Francois County Raceway is preparing for the start of the 2004 racing season. Besides a new promoter for this year (Cory Franklin of Potosi), there are also a few rule changes for the various classes.
The biggest changes came with the old Hobby Stock class. Now called the Sportsmen class, the class will ALLOW roller rockers; any aluminum intake; steel cranks; three-link suspension (however car must then weigh 3,000 pounds), and floater rearends. Vehicles in the class this year are not allowed to use aluminum flywheels or pressure plates. The cars must also use either Hoosier Dirt Street or Hoosier Super Street tires only.
In the Modified class for 2004, the IMCA rules will apply except: the motor claim and shock claim will NOT be honored; fiberglass roofs only; roller cams are allowed; cars must run steel bellhousings and no aluminum heads are allowed.
For the Sprint cars, the right rear tire is once again a track tire.
For the 600cc Multis, the rear drive tires must be a Hoosier brand (any tire composition) and fuel will be check on a weekly basis.
For the 2004 racing season at the St. Francois County Raceway the grandstand admission price is going to be REDUCED to $8 for adults (down from $10 the previous year) while pit passes are increasing to $25.
