Columbus, MS- Another strong field of 44 MSCCS Super Late Models invaded the high banked quarter mile Queen City Speedway in Meridian, Mississippi for round #2 on the 2004 tour. Anthony Rushing would take the win in a flag to flag run and $2,500 50-lap main event win.

Action got underway for the event with Brown Engineering Pole Qualifying and when qualifying was over Rushing was the Fast Gun of the evening tripping the lights with a fast 13.93-second lap. Jason Smith of Laurel was second quick as the top eight qualifiers were locked into the field.

A series of four Cliburn Tank Lines B-Main events were run with Richey Cauthen, Dennis Duncan, Randy Little, and Jason Cliburn taking the B-Main wins. Completing the 22-car starting field was MSCCS provisional David Breazeale and track provisional Larry Murphy.

The 50-lap main event would see Rushing check out on the competition and lead start to finish in his Jay Dickens powered Rocket on American Race Tires. Rodney Wing had a strong second place run with Clinton’s Scott Slay having a solid third place run. Completing the top five were Jason Smith and Pontotoc’s Steve Russell in fifth. Rounding out the top finishers were Dennis Duncan, Wiley Williams, Josh Fuller in eighth taking the Styling Signs and Decals Hard Charger award, Laurel’s Randy Walters, and Randy Little in tenth.

The next stop on the MSCCS tour will be this Saturday night March 27th at the ¼-mile banked oval of Simpson County Motorsports Park in D’Lo, Mississippi featuring a 50-lap $2,500 and $300 to start main event. Action will consist of Brown Engineering Pole Qualifying locking in the top eight qualifiers with positions 9 through 20 set by Cliburn Tank Lines B-Main events plus two provisionals to complete the 22 car starting field.
