The original "Highside Hustler" Russ Gabbert, formerly of Hobart, IN and a frequent competitor at tracks such as Crown Point Speedway, Kankakee County Speedway, and Shadyhill Speedway, has announced his intentions on returning north from his home in Berea, KY, to run in the inaugural Midwest Modified Madness' River City Shoot-Out Thursday and Friday, June 17th & 18th, before traveling to Shadyhill where he is slated to compete on Saturday the 19th.

Gabbert, 43, and a 17 year veteran driver, is without a doubt one of Kentucky's elite modified drivers piloting both his own #11 Bandit Race Car chassis as well as #J14 for Team IAT. Perhaps his most memorable triumph came last year at Twin Cities Raceway Park when he took the checkers in the annual Big Dawg 100 over UMP National Champion Gary Cook Jr.

Gabbert has already racked up four wins in four outings at his home track of Richmond Raceway, and a bounty has been placed on Gabbert for anyone who can beat Gabbert as long as Gabbert finishes the race and does not score a DNF. Gabbert has scored five wins and three runner-ups in nine outings this far in 2010.
