COLLECTS THE TOP PRIZE AT BLOOMINGTON SPEEDWAY

Bloomington, IN - May 23, 2014 - Hunter Schuerenberg raced to victory Friday night in the MSCS Sprint Car race at the Bloomington Speedway.
Schuerenberg won the special Josh Burton Memorial Race which paid $2,000 to win plus additional bonus money totaling another thousand dollars. The trophy presented in recognition of the event was a Henry rifle with a special inscription on the stock.

The Sikeston, MO, driver gave chase to Jon Stanbrough for the first
14 laps before taking the lead. Schuerenberg kept the Mach 1 Chassis Rider powered HSM/Nolen Racing Sprinter in the lead the remaining 11 laps.

Stanbrough would finish second. But he had led at the fourth lap mark which earned him an extra thousand dollars. The bonus was given in honor of Josh Burton. Burton had competed in the family 04 during his racing career. Kyle Cummins moved up to finish third. Dave Darland and Brady Short rounded out the top five for the main.

Jeff Bland Jr. led the second five finishers to the finish line.
Pennsylvania driver Mark Smith was in that group along with Bradley Sterrett, Robert Ballou, and Casey Shuman. Bland was behind the wheel of the Burton 04. The car paced the field during the parade lap prior to the main event in memory of Josh Burton.

Casey Shuman won the Hoosier tire complete with orange lettering based on his finish in the B Main and the luck of a coin toss with Chase Stockon. Two B Mains were needed for the 43 car field. Daron Clayton won the first B Main in which Shuman finished second. Brent Beauchamp won the second B Main with Stockon second. The tire was to go to the fourth place finisher in the B Main. In having two Bs instead of one a coin toss had been devised to decide the winner for the tire. MSCS races with a spec medium tire rule and Hoosier Racing Tire manufactures those.

Heat races victories were collected in order by Dakota Jackson, Seth Parker, Levi Shields, Hunter Schuerenberg, and Jeff Bland Jr. The Wilwood Tuff Brakes Award went to Jordan Kinser who was eleventh in the feature. The Keizer aluminum Hard Charger for the race was Brady Short. Short was the highest placing driver who moved up nine spots.
The other mover was Casey Shuman.

The series moved on to Lincoln Park Speedway for the second of three races scheduled over the Memorial Holiday weekend. Jon Stanbrough retained the 2014 MSCS points lead and Hunter Schuerenberg moved back up into second spot in the standings.
