Some of the best sprint car drivers in the nation turned out to christen the red, white & blue wall of the Terre Haute Action Track. Though some traded paint with the stripes, the legendary track proved to be no challenge for USAC’s Dave Darland, a former USAC “triple crown” winner, and frequent top finisher at Terre Haute. Darland had tough competition from fellow USAC drivers Jon Stanbrough, who finished 2nd, and Bud Kaeding who finished 3rd, as well as a full field of impressive drivers.
With a purse totaling more than $12,000., these sprint car drivers were racing for more than bragging rights! As part of the MSCS nine-race “Route 41” Shoot-out Series, the MSCS driver who accumulates the most points in the series will win an additional $1000! MSCS sprints will return to the Action Track on July 2nd, along with the King of Indiana Sprint Series Final, and again on September 24th.
Next up for Terre Haute, the 35th Annual Tony Hulman Classic, featuring USAC Sprints & UMP Modifieds. Past winners of the Tony Hulman Classic include: Pancho Carter(’75 & ’79), Sheldon Kinser (’81), Jack Hewitt (’83 & ’95) & J.J. Yeley.
