WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (June 3, 2005) -- The O’Reilly Auto Parts United States Modified Touring Series race scheduled for Wednesday, June 8, at the Shelby County Speedway in Harlan, Iowa, has been canceled.

A new management team was introduced at the facility recently, and officials felt that the time and effort involved with showcasing an O’Reilly USMTS program would not be possible at this time.

"We felt it was in the best interest of both parties if we canceled this race for now, and look to see what we can do in the future," said O’Reilly USMTS promoter Todd Staley. "Shelby County is a great race track, and I know our drivers would give the Harlan, Iowa, fans a show to remember.

"We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause for our fans and teams."

The cancellation of the Shelby County Speedway date opens up a "travel day" for teams next week. On Monday, June 6, the O’Reilly USMTS superstars visit the 1/2-mile Adams County Speedway in Corning, Iowa, followed by the first-ever visit to the state-of-the-art I-80 Speedway @ Nebraska Raceway Park on Tuesday, June 7. The Series then moves to the Benton County Speedway in Vinton, Iowa, on Thursday, June 9, before trekking to Memphis, Mo., for a two-day rain-delayed show at the Bentz GM Country Scotland County Speedway on Friday and Saturday, June 10-11.
