Farmington, MO (September 29, 2007) -- The Annual Cheaters Night came with a little flair and some great racing. Three first time winners this season at St Francois County Raceway on Saturday evening.

Steve Short, Farmington, MO, got the win. His first of the season. Steve has had a great car the last few weeks and his time was coming for a win. On the start of the event short fell in line with Tiffany Wyzard, A J Bruns, Jimmy Hurley, and early leader Tommy Worley, Jr.

Short made his way through traffic on a dry slick track. He battled Tommy Worley lap after lap on the low side of the track. Tommy and Jimmy Hurley working the upper grooves. Once Short took the lead he had a scary moment as on Lap 20 Tyler Thompson , got his car to high in turn four. Clipped the wall and did a slow roll. Just kinda laid it over. However, he collected Second place runner Worley, third place A J Bruns and Chris West. West was in his first ride in a sprint car and did well.

This event also had a special challenge. The Back Row Challenge. By starting on the last row of the main event, 2007 Champion Joey Montgomery had the opportunity to earn an extra $500. To claim the full prize, Montgomery had to win the event from his 22nd starting position. He made great progress and finished fifth and got a $100 bonus. With the Back Row Challenge in place the race was ran 30 laps instead of the normal 25.

Modifieds brought out the best assortment of “tricks” for this Cheaters Night. Some had sprint car wings on top. Others had plexiglass side walls. Most had bigger tires. So the wingers had the advantage of the corner speed. A winger won the event. Jeff LaBaube, Dittmer, MO took home the chrome on this night. It was not an easy win early in the going as LaBaube and Brent Thompsom went to the front. He, Nations and Thompson put on a great show for the fans as they raced side by side for several laps. LaBaube would take advantage of a mistake by Nations and stay at the point. Billy smith, runner-up for the 2007 Championship worked his way into the top 5 and finished 2nd.
