Need Decals?
Iv'e been to West Plains many times but never to Wheatland for this race. Could someone help me plan this race this year? We drive a motorhome and plan to stay at the track. We would arrive Thursday about 4:00 pm. Are there pleny of dry camping spots? We will bring our golf car providing they are allowed. Can we drive the golf car in the pits during the day? We always had a great time in West Plains and hope we can at Whealand also.

yes there is plenty of dry camping they own so much land around there it will never be a problem. There restrooms and showers facilities are top notch.they are very fan friendly you can get firewood ice etc right at the track they sent golf carts around the camping areas to take people back and forth to the track.Saw plenty of four wheelers and golf carts but not sure on what they do and dont allow in the pits but a phone call would easily answer that. Also would recommend reserved seating even though ever seat is very good and they are adding seats last year they had quite a few people who had to stand on Sat night.

yeah, there are tons of dry camping spots. we went through the pits at one point there....i just cant remember when it was. i wanna say it was after the races if my memory serves me right. when we was down there...that friday and saturday, forrest lucas was running around on a golf cart talking to everybody in the campground and i mean everyone. he was getting input on what was good, what was bad, and everything in between. he seems to really care about what the fans want, and will try to make anything better to keep people happy.

I should have asked how far the camping is from the track. Is it right there like it was at West Plains? Can't really tell from the views of the track. This race is still a Crown Jewel right or am I over rating it?

yes it is a crown jewel. its not as much money as it used to be but that started at west plains over the last couple of years with the money dropping. as for distance to track..it kinda depends where youre at. some is close some is a little ways, but if ya have a 4 wheeler or golf cart its not far at all lol. they do send a shuttle...its like a 6 or 8 seater golf cart around to pick people up. where we used to camp at at wpms...its no further and we were way up in the woods at wpms. if youre looking at google earth...north up..east of the track...most of all the grass area around the lake is camping..you can kinda see the electric spots too at the north of the lake. also when youre pulling in off of 54 on the east side of the road coming into the track there is a patch of grass that dang near makes a triangle if youre looking a google earth...thats camping too. hope this helps. you wont regret going..very classy facility. i myself still am a west plains die hard but what can i do..the show me is there now.

Yes it is a crown jewel. It is different from West Plains and i know tradition is hard to change for some people but in reality all of us who love this race couldnt ask for it to be at a better facility.Judging from last years crowds i think it will be fine and just grow from here.96fast pretty much has it right on the camping nothing is to far of a walk and pretty much everything you see from google earth you can camp on.

do you still call it a crown jewell when not everyone can partisipate? last year the woo scheduled against this race. and it looks like they did it again.

good point....i just consider it a jewel b/c of the money and out of habit...good point though

That is the on going debate but given the circumstances we are left with in dirt rack racing i would consider as close as anything else your going to get other than the Dream or World.

The purse is significantly less than when it was at West Plains

oh yea its way way down on the total purse...way down...i went from 02 i think until the last show me at west plains and i think the last big one was around 42,000 to win and 4200 to start....

when i went the first time in 07 it was 41,000 to win and 4100 to start it was a great show in my opnion the show me will never be the same again its prob good at wheatlind but nothing like west plains

agree 100%. wheatland is awesome...but it aint no wast plains when it comes to the track imo

Both show me 100 races that i went to see at West Plains were ok if you like watching the same guy lead nearly the whole race, i really like the locations of both race tracks theres plenty to do between race nights. last years show me 100 was a great race there was alot of crazy stuff blown tires and losing drive shafts. Cant beat the facility. All the free Rock Star energy drink you want, and great fishing at pomme de terr. Im looking foward to going again next month

a couple of the years i went, someone ran away with it at west plains, but the racing through the field was better than anywhere ive ever been, i just dont watch the leader, and last year at wheatland was an interesting race, but i dont like seeing people lose the race b/c of flats and a rough spot in the track, my 1st year at west plains..maybe it was the 2nd year i went, moyer and bloomquist were side by side literally for over 75 laps for the lead, and every year there were multiple cars charging through the field to the front, it was like ya needed ten set of eyes to watch the track.

Although I only attended the last 5 or so show me 100's at west plains, plus attended last year at wheatland. I can't think of another place as consistently racey as west plains. (I know it rubbered up and birky mopped the floor with the competition one year.) Wheatland is extremely nice facility, is capable of providing a great surface. I attended a race there back before lucas oil and the track was as smooth as a pool table! No exaggeration!

Anyone know if there is a dump station for the campers and where it's at? Thanks for all of the info so far. We are definately coming but just looking for a heads-up before we get to a new place.

Im trying to rack my brain on this but if i remember i believe it might be located right in front of the shower building or there abouts.I was just tent camping but believe i remember walking by it a few times.

Forrest Lucas is going to make this a great track. I went to the last couple years at West Plains and then last year at Wheatland. West Plains was a great track and it seemed as if anybody had a chance to move up to the front. I forget which year it was at West Plains but Bloomquist came from the back of the pack to the front and he was flying. A couple more laps and the race was his. But Friday night last year at Wheatland became a train around the bottom with only a few guys trying the high side. We were standing right behind Forrest Lucas during the last few races that night (we chose to stand, not because we didnt have seats). He noticed that it became a one groove track and my brother decided he needed his advice. Well after about a half hour conversation we went back to our campsite. After a great Show Me Saturday night, Mr. Lucas sought out my brother and asked him what he thought. He said "I listened to what you said. Hopefully you guys will be back for years to come." Forrest Lucas is determined to make this track great.
