Springfield,Mo.-
Broken Arrow, Oklahoma’s Nick Smith snared his first American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region win of the season by racing to victory lane in Saturday night’s 25-lap feature event at Springfield Raceway.

Smith reeled in early pacesetter Donnie Ray Crawford on the seventh round and paced the field the rest of the way aboard the Wesmar-powered Sooner Network Solutions No. 15s Maxim for his 14th career ASCS Sooner triumph, taking over the series points lead in the process.
Smith found lapped traffic a handful during the long green flag runs as McClelland and Crawford both started to close up the gap only to find themselves running out of laps as Smith pulled away with 5 laps to go_Only 2 caution flags waved during the action on the Quick-Quarter as the Sprints were providing plenty of side by side early action.

Smith was chased to the line by 2005 ASCS Sooner champ Sean McClelland, with Crawford, Tony Bruce, Jr., and Jonathan Beason rounding out the top five.

Brian McClelland was sixth, with Kenneth Walker, Eric Todd, Dustin Morgan and reigning Sooner king Joe Wood, Jr., completing the top ten.

Morgan, Crawford, Sean McClelland and Walker topped heat race action for the 31-car field, with Wood, Jr., winning the “B” Main.
In support class action Sean Williams set a blistering pace in the SportMod class over taking pole setter Mike Hailman and never looked back in taking his second feature win of the season.Springfield's JC Morton was looking for his third straight Southwest Missouri win as the second generation driver had won last Sunday night at Monett and Friday Night at LebanonMidway finished a strong second with roy Maynard, pole setter Hailman and Bobby Maggard Jr rounded out the top 5.The feature went with only 1 yellow on lap 1 as the back part of the field got together with Ryan Stacye coming to a stop before crossing the flagstand forcing an original restart. After that the feature went a solid 20 laps caution free.Maynard was the top GM Performance/Reliable Chevrolet Crate Motor finisher earning an extra $150 to his winnings.Billy Dalton and Ryan Stacye also competed with the GM 602 Crate motor and also recieved extra money as there is $300 available every points Race in the SportMod class.18 of the 20 starters finished on the lead lap despite Williams dominating performance.
The StreetStock feature saw Shawn Strong take advantage of hid front row pole spot to lead all 15 laps of an action packed feature event.Defending champion Robert High gave chance by moving into second place on lap 7 but couldn't make a winning move as Strong held a fast groove all night long. The battle for third featured currentl point leader Jack Hamer,Kolt Barker,Dan Wood,Tyrel Jones and Randy High.Jones got croosed in turn 3 early and was charging hard until spinning coming for the checkered flag on the last lap.Hamer moved around Wood and Barker both on the final circuit to secure third followed by Barker and Wood.
The Legend Car feature saw some strange deals tonight as Park Jones took the early lead with Dave comer in tow. With Jones strong early,Comer, opening night winner Jay Reynolds, Justin Comer, Chuck Comer and last weeks winner Rob Watson all got together in turn 2 sending all to the rear of the field. On the restart Jones pulled away with Dave Bauer now charging hard moving quickly along with Bill Cottrill.Jones would retire to the pits on lap 4 moving Bauer into the lead with Cottrill looking for his first win.A slow leaking tire moved Cottrill backwards after a restart as Bauer who had nothing but problems early this season was pulling away.Justin Comer used a couple of cautions to charge back into the runner-up spot with Chuck Comer also moving up quickly as was Dave Comer.Bauer was able to withstand the late race charges to secure his first win this season with Justin Comer a close second followed Dave Comer,Chuck Comer and Rob Watson.
The MidWest Modz class continues to grow as Jeremy Manes grabbed the opening lead for 4 laps before looping the car in turn 3 right in front of Kaleb Copher.Copher was able to pull away as point leader 14 year old JC Newell started closing the gap in the middle stages of the feature with Manes recovering quickly and moving forward.Copher held on to grab his second straight win followed by Newell,Manes,Midway winner Tim Ballinger Jr and David Lynch.
Action continues Sat night May 15th with a regular points event featuring A-Mods,Sportmods,StreetStocks,Legends,MidWest Modz and PureStocks with racing at 7PM.
