CLINTON, Okla. (March 19) – The last blast of winter has postponed the Sooner Roundup special to what will hopefully be a more spring-like weekend in April.
Wild West Speedway officials announced this morning that forecasts for 4-8 inches of snow in Clinton on Sat¬urday, as well as 10 inches or more further north in Oklahoma, forced rescheduling of the IMCA sanctioned event from March 20-21 to Saturday and Sunday, April 3-4.
An open practice session is now planned for Friday, April 2 from 6-11 p.m. No change has been made in the respective race cards, which still see the two IMCA SportMod classes on the same pro¬grams for the first time.
Southwest Racing Specialties Southern SportMods race for $350 to win on Saturday and for $1,000 in their regional event on Sunday. Top checks for Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods are $250 on opening night and $400 on Sunday.
IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks run for $250 to win on Saturday and for $300 on Sunday. Trophies go to top four finishers in the first night feature for Mach-1 Sport Compacts while the Sunday winner earns $100.
Southern SportMods, Hobby Stocks and Sport Com¬pacts are newly sanctioned at Wild West this season and all applicable IMCA points will be awarded. National points will be given for both Northern SportMod events.
Gates open at 4 p.m. Saturday, sign-in ends and the grandstand opens at 7 p.m., and racing starts at 8 p.m. On Sunday, gates will open at 11 a.m., sign-in ends and the grandstand opens at 2 p.m., and racing gets un¬der¬way at 3 p.m.
A $25 track registration fee will be charged to each car and pit passes are $25 each day. Grandstand admis¬sion will be $10 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12, with young¬sters five and under getting in free.
