Sportsman racers who are regular competitors at Godfrey and Tri City Speedways will have an extra incentive in the 2004 racing season. Plans were finalized today to set into motion the "Marathon Financial Insurance Company / dirttrackinsider.com Sportsman Cup". Drivers will compete throughout the season to accumulate enough points to be crowned overall champion of this two-track series. The top 3 finishers in the overall standings will earn bonus monies, with the overall champion picking up a check worth at least $500. Details on how the points system will work will be released within the week.
