For 2005, IMCA has allowed Whiskey Lake Raceway to drop their requirement of American Racer IMCA spec tires for the left-rear wheel. Any brand and any size is allowable. However, IMCA and Whiskey Lake Raceway still mandates the use of an American Racer IMCA spec tire right-rear tire no wider than 14 inches.

IMCA has also dropped the heads-only or engine claim for Sprint cars that run at Whiskey Lake Raceway. All other IMCA and WLR rules apply.

Re: Whiskey Lake Raceway Junction City, KS

:) Certainly!

Whiskey Lake Raceway is located just off I-70 near Junction City-Ft. Riley, Kansas at exit 301.

The track was named for it's historic location. In the 1900s, this was the furthestmost point that a paddleboat steamship could navigate up the Kansas river. The spot was named Whiskey Point and had a reputation for it's rough and tumble residents. Years later, a flood caused the river to change it's location. A race track was constructed then reshaped last year into a gently banked 3/8 mile with a clay surface.

Even now, the track pays homage to it's rowdy predecessors by allowing fighting in the track's rules. Here is an exerpt from WLR's rules:

Track Goals #5...

To increase the point fund purse, fighting will be allowed and encouraged. Combatants must notify the track promoter five minutes prior to the start of the first race of their desire to fight. All fights will begin 1 hour after the last event has ended and will occur in a designated location. Spectators will pay $2.00 each to witness the fight and the fight winner will pay $50.00. All funds will be added to the purse. Combatants wishing to engage in deadly combat must elect to do so prior to the ambulance leaving the track. Deadly combat involves the use of guns, knives, swords, steel bars, oak or hickory sticks, projectiles such as small mortars, or hand grenades. Spectators at deadly combat events shall pay $5.00 and the winner shall pay $250.00. In addition, the winner must pay coroner fees and reasonable funeral expenses. A respectful letter to the family of the deceased would be nice but is not mandatory. Any other fighting except as described herein will result in bad things happening to the aggressor including banishment from the track for 1 or 2 years.

Now I have to ask...
