Stakes Upped for Saturday's ASCS Canyon Region Event at USA Race Park

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (May 3, 2007) – When the American Sprint Car Series Canyon Region wingless sprints take to Tucson's United Sports Arizona Race Park this Saturday night for the first time this year, there will be some extra incentive for each of the racers.



Granite Construction and Favorite Systems have paired up to increase Saturday night's feature purse to include $1,250 to the winner and $250 to start the feature event.



Jeremy Sherman will be shooting for a fourth consecutive series win on Saturday night as the track celebrates with Cinco De Mayo Night, offering $5 off general admission for fans wearing a poncho.



Pit gates open at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, with spectator gates opening at 5:30 p.m. and racing going green at 6:45 p.m.

United Sports Arizona Race Park is located east of Tucson on I-10 to Exit 268, then 1.6 miles south on Craycroft Road (Craycroft turns into Los Reales). For more information, contact the track at 520-574-8515.

The ASCS Canyon Region brings the best in wingless Sprint Car racing to Arizona in 2007 with a slate of 24 events. The scheduled consists of events at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, Tucson's USA Race Park and Casa Grande's Central Arizona Raceway.

The 2007 season marks the 16th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, with the series set to sanction approximately 240 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout at least 30 different states and Canada.
