After three weekends off from racing the STARS Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series presented by Arizona Sport Shirts gets back into action this upcoming Labor Day Weekend with races on Friday Night, August 29th at the Legendary Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY for the “Pete Abel Memorial” and a first ever visit to the Half Mountain Speedway in Royalton, KY on Saturday Night, August 30th.
It will be the second visit this season to the Ponderosa Speedway with new promoters Jerry and Mary Denson hosting the STARS Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series for a $3000 to win event. Back in May, Johnny Wheeler came home the winner of the “Spring into Spring 40” for his second career BoB win. On Thursday Night August 28th, there will be an open practice at Ponderosa Speedway for drivers wanting track time prior to the running of the “Pete Abel Memorial”.
Saturday Night the series heads to Eastern Kentucky for a $5000 to win showdown at the beautiful Half Mountain Speedway. Owner and promoter, Jim Branham will be welcoming the BoB boys to his 4/10ths mile, 100 feet wide race track for the very first time as another top quality venue is added to the schedule. Half Mountain Speedway is located on Route 7 at exit 75 off of the Mountain Parkway, then seven miles south on Route 7 will take you to the track.
