CLARKSVILLE, TN – In an effort to provide more competitive racing competition, StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series officials have amended the tire rule for both the National Touring Series and the Weekly Racing Series in 2006. The tire rule amendment includes two new compounds.

The new tire rule will be effective with round three of the 2006 StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Tour on February 3 at Golden Isle Speedway in Brunswick, GA. The two new additional tires allowed for StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series competition will be the Hoosier D21 Spec tire, and the American Racer 44 Spec tire.

In addition to the two new additional tires, the new tire rule will now allow race teams to groove and sipe their tires when the new tire rule goes into effect on February 3, 2006. The tires already allowed for StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series competition, and also included in the new rule, are the Hoosier 55 WRS-2 Spec tire and the American Racer Crate Spec 56.

The Hoosier 55 WRS-2 Spec tire and the American Racer Crate Spec 56 will be the only tires permitted for the first two StormPay.com National events on January 8 at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and on January 21 at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS, as the 2005 series tire rule will be in effect, and no grooving or siping will be allowed.

“The StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series is growing and moving into new areas where other compounds of the Hoosier and American Racer Tires work better and provide for more side-by-side racing,” StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series Director Mike Vaughn said. “We’ve talked to a lot of track promoters and drivers. They’re all in agreement that these two new tires were needed to go with the two tires we already have in our rules.”

The new tire rule will also be in effect for the 2006 StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series, which begins its point season on April 14, and runs through October 22.

The StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Tour and the Weekly Racing Series features economical engines produced by GM Performance and sealed at factory.
