CLARKSVILLE, TN – Jason Wilson and Tony Albright remain on top of their respective regions after week eight of the 24-week StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series. This marks the third straight week Wilson has been on top of the East Region, and Albright has led the West Region. A total of 185 drivers have competed in StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series competition.
Drivers who compete at both Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL and Childersburg Speedway in Childersburg, AL, hold down the top five spots in the East Region.
Wilson, with 426 points, holds a six-point lead over John Pierce. Adam Martin is in the third spot with 404 points, Carlton Freeman is fourth with 395 points, and Jimmy Elkins is fifth with 340 points.
Logan Yates is sixth with 294 points, and fellow Talladega Short Track driver Steve Kirk is in the seventh with 276 points. The eighth and ninth spots belong to Talladega Short Track and Childersburg Speedway drivers Buddy George with 260 points, and Anthony Clifton with 255 points.
Tim Staples took his second win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track to move into the tenth spot with 238 points.
Albright leads the West Region earning 313 points at Clarksville StormPay.com Speedway in Clarksville, TN and Camden Speedway in Camden, TN. Albright picked up the win on Friday night at Camden Speedway.
Herman Reynolds is second in the West Region with 283 points earned at Pike County Speedway in Magnolia, MS and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS. Talbert Goldman is third in points with 266, and Jarrette Gunn is in the fourth spot with 264 points.
Goldman is the “Travel King” of the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series West Region, having earned points at five different race tracks – Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS, Pike County Speedway, Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS, Whynot Motorsports Park, and Camden Speedway.
Gunn has competed at three different tracks – Swinging Bridge Raceway in Jackson, MS, Pike County Speedway and Columbus Speedway.
Brian Caudle, who competes at StormPay.com Speedway and Camden Speedway is fifth with 252 points. Kevin Watts is sixth with 238 earned at Pike County Speedway. Steven Ashby took the win Saturday night at Clarksville StormPay.com Speedway to move up to the seventh spot in the West Region with 226 points, and Landon Frith from Swinging Bridge Raceway and Pike County Speedway is eighth with 222 points.
Jeff Danos from Pike County Speedway is ninth with 215 points, and Doug Todd from Swinging Bridge Raceway and Whynot Motorsports Park rounds out the top ten in the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series West Region with 206 points.
In other East Region action over the weekend, Jeff Fields, the 2005 StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Championship Runner-Up posted a pair of wins on Saturday night at Thunder Mountain Speedway in Fyffe, AL. R.D. Smith took the win on Friday night at Childersburg Speedway. Modoc Speedway in Modoc, SC and I-77 Speedway in Chester, SC were both closed over the weekend.
Other feature race winners in the West Region over the weekend include Terry Mosley at Whynot Motorsports Park, and Thomas McReynolds at Columbus Speedway. Malden Speedway in Malden, MO held two feature races on Friday night won by Jeff Moss and Scott Gibbs.
Thunderhill Raceway in Lawrenceburg, TN was rained out, Swinging Bridge Raceway took the weekend off, and Pike County Speedway did not report any results.
