StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series Round Up For May 3

CLARKSVILLE, TN – Adam Martin of Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL and Tony Albright, who competes at StormPay.com Speedway in Clarksville, TN and Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, lead their respective regions in the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series after the fifth week of the 24-week competition.

Martin leads the East Region with 228 points in five starts, and Albright leads the West Region with 194 points in five starts. During the 24-week period, drivers will take their top 16 finishes to count towards their Regional points.

Talladega Short Track Saturday night winner Jason Wilson is in the second spot in the East Region, trailing Martin by 18 points. Drivers from Talladega Short Track make up the top nine spots in the East Region. John Pierce is in the third spot with 192 points, followed by Steve Kirk and Jimmy Elkins, who are tied for fourth with 174 apiece.

Logan Yates is in the sixth spot with 160 points, and David Kelley is seventh with 154 points. Chris Turley is eighth with 145 points, and Carlton Freeman is ninth with 138 points. Jay Sessoms from I-77 Speedway is tenth in the East Region with 133 points.

Following Albright in the West Region is Herman Reynolds from Pike County Speedway in Magnolia, MS with 160 points. Talbert Goldman, who competes at both Pike County Speedway and Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS is third in the West Region with 155 points.

Jarrette Gunn from Swinging Bridge Raceway in Jackson, MS, and Pike County Speedway is fourth with 151 points, and Landon Frith from Swinging Bridge Raceway and Pike County Speedway is fifth with 150 points, tied with Kevin Watts from Pike County Speedway. Brian Caudle from StormPay.com Speedway is seventh with 147 points.

Jeff Danos from Pike County Speedway is eighth with 138 points. Doug Todd from Swinging Bridge Raceway, and National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame inductee Jeff Purvis, who competes at Camden Speedway, and StormPay.com Speedway, are tied for the ninth spot with 118 points. Purvis picked up his second straight win at Camden Speedway on Friday night.

A total of 147 different drivers have competed in StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series competition at 12 different tracks since the 24-week series began on March 31. Tracks with over 12 entries at each event race for 50 points to win, with a two-point spread back to 30 points. Tracks with 12 and under entries compete for 40 points to win, with a one-point spread back to 30 points.

Joining Purvis and Wilson in the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series Winner’s Circle last weekend were John Pursley taking the $2,500 winner’s share on Saturday night at I-77 Speedway in Chester, SC, and Jordy Nipper was the winner on Friday night at Modoc Speedway in Modoc, SC. Talladega Short Track also ran on Friday night, with Lamar Haygood taking the win.

Mother Nature was once again a big winner over the weekend with Malden Speedway in Malden, MO, Columbus Speedway, Thunderhill Raceway in Lawrenceburg, TN, Pike County Speedway, and Thunder Mountain Speedway in Fyffe, AL all being rained out. Malden Speedway will return with double features this Friday night.

Willard Speedway in Willard, KY, StormPay.com Speedway and Swinging Bridge Raceway took the weekend off, and will return to action this Saturday night.

Two tracks will make their StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series debuts this weekend. Childersburg Speedway in Childersburg, AL will open this Friday night, and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS will open this Saturday night.
