BATON ROUGE, La. (March 5, 2003) - The O'Reilly SUPR Late Model Series is proud to announce the running of the first-ever O'Reilly Auto Parts SUPR All Star Race of Champions to be held on Saturday March 8th and Sunday March 9th. The Race of Champions is just that as all former series champions have been invited to compete and to sweeten the pot for the former champions, all 10 past champions will be guaranteed a spot in the feature. The potential exists for 32 cars to start the feature. And the feature itself is unique, as it will feature two 40-lap segments with $6,000 first prize money being awarded to the winner.

The O'Reilly SUPR Late Model Series, now in its 14th season of promoting Professional Dirt Late Model Racing in the Gulf South, will visit Baton Rouge Raceway following the successful 4th Annual Mardi Gras Nationals held this past weekend at Pike County Speedway. Mike Boland, of Cuba, Alabama and 1999 O'Reilly SUPR Champion David Ashley of Zachary, Louisiana split the two races while Kenny Merchant of West Monroe, Louisiana staked claim to the early season lead in the battle for the 2003 Championship in his J. D. Caver Ford Taurus Warrior. Right behind Merchant is Port Allen, Louisiana's Kennith Crowe in the West Bank Racing Chevrolet Monte Carlo Rocket.

Joining the O'Reilly SUPR Late Models will be the Coca-Cola UMP Modifieds. The Coca-Cola UMP Modifieds will be battling over 40-laps for $1,500 to win. This race should attract the best regional UMP Modified drivers and they'll be aiming to top the 2002 O'Reilly SUMA Champion, Jerry Cassano and 2002 Coca-Cola UMP Modified Track Champion Roy Schnebelen.

As an added bonus, the Micro Sprints will be on hand for an exhibition race on Sunday only. The Micro Sprints compete in the Pennsylvania region and they'll be seeking the warmer climates of South Louisiana so that they can get an early start to their racing season.

The action all gets underway on Friday night, March 7th with an open practice session to be held from 7:00 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. The racing action then gets underway on Saturday night, March 8th with the gates opening at 4:00 p.m. and the on track action getting started at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 9th, the gates open at 10;00 a.m. and the action gets underway at 1:00 p.m.
