CARTERSVILLE, GA – Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL has joined the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series for dirt late models powered by economical GM Performance factory-built and sealed engines. Drivers in the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series at Talladega Short Track will be eligible to compete for a Weekly, Regional, and National point fund in 2006.

By joining the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series, Talladega Short Track continues its relationship with the sanctioning body from the 2005 season, when they ran a National Touring event with the series when it was known as Crate Racin’ USA, which was founded by Mike Vaughn in February of 2005.

"Everybody at Talladega Short Track is looking forward to working with Mike Vaughn, his staff, and StormPay.com to bring a high quality of racing at an affordable price to TST in the 2006 racing season," Talladega Short Track owners Lynn Phillips and Alfred Gurly said. "We think that the new StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series will bring to our drivers and fans a high quality of competition along with a good point fund for our drivers to have a chance to share in."

The StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series will begin in April and run through October. Each track in the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series will be eligible to put on 24 weekly events, with competitors taking their best 16 finishes in the points chase.

The dirt late models in the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series, and the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series 24-race National Touring Division, will be powered by one of two GM Performance factory-built and sealed engines right out of the crate. The $2,800 “602” is a steel-head engine that receives a 150 pound weight break over the $4,800 “604” aluminum-head engine.

In addition to joining the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series, Talladega Short Track will also host the first points race of the 2006 National Touring Championship season with the 16th Annual Ice Bowl on January 7-8. The main event for the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series will be the $2,500-to-win NeSmith Chevrolet 40.

“We’re elated to have Talladega Short Track as a part of the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series,” StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series Director Mike Vaughn said. “We’re also proud that Talladega Short Track has chosen the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model National Series to be a part of the Ice Bowl, which is one of the most recognized annual dirt late model races in the country.”
