Haubstadt. IN - June 11, 2012. The Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series will return to action on Fathers Day June 17th. The Sunday evening race at Tri-State Speedway at Haubstadt will be the first of two that week for the series. The MSCS sprints also have an appearance scheduled that Tuesday June 19th on the half mile Terre Haute Action Track. Both tracks are located on the U.S. Highway 41 corridor in southwestern Indiana.

The feature at Tri-State Speedway will pay $3,000 to win. The feature two days later at the Terre Haute Action Track will pay
$2,000 to win. Any driver who could put back to back wins together could earn a quick $5,000. The last driver to win consecutive MSCS races was Jon Stanbrough. He did it twice during the last half of the 2010 season.
This season MSCS has held four features and four different winners have emerged. Robert Ballou, Thomas Meseraull, Hunter Schuerenberg, and Jon Stanbrough are the four victors. Ballou’s victory came at Terre Haute to start the season! Schuerenberg and Stanbrough each won one of the two previous features held at Tri-State in 2012.
Meseraull’s win was at Lawrenceburg Speedway. He has also finished in the top three with MSCS at Terre Haute in the recent past.

The Tuesday night race at Terre Haute has the distinct possibility of attracting additional race teams that might have been competing on a regular weekly basis at a local track if the race had been scheduled on a Saturday or another night during the weekend. MSCS offers sprint car drivers an opportunity to purchase temporary permits and run with the series on such occasions. Licenses will also be for sale as usual at both tracks. Ten races still remain on this year’s schedule!
In addition to the sprint car action, fans will be treated to a full card of UMP Modified races each night. It will be the first night this season that MSCS will be running solo as the only sprint series in competition at Tri-State Speedway. The first two events at Haubstadt were co-sanctioned with USAC and KISS procedures affecting the format. At Terre Haute it will also be NASCAR NIGHT. More detailed information can be found on the two tracks’ websites at tristatespeedway.com and terrehauteactiontrack.net.

Each season MSCS honors one driver as the MSCS Rookie of the Year.
Drivers have until July 15th to apply for MSCS rookie eligibility.
So far four drivers are participating as rookies. Chet Williams of Newburgh, IN leads Brian Karraker of Dongola, IL, Josh Burton of Bloomington, IN, and A.J. Hopkins of Brownsburg, IN, in the rookie standings. The chase is shaping up to be a tight race. Ten points separate the two leaders and third place in the rookie standings is a tie. Braylon Fitzpatrick was the Rookie of the Year in 2011. Two of the MSCS series sponsors involved in supporting the Rookie program are Hinchman Racing Uniforms and AFCO Shocks.

Racing begins at 7:30 Sunday at Haubstadt and at 7:00 on Tuesday at Terre Haute. Hot laps at each track begin an hour earlier. The tracks are in different time zones. Travelers need to remember that Terre Haute is an hour ahead of Haubstadt time wise.
