The MSCCS Invades Jackson This Saturday Night!

Columbus, MS-The 2004 Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series will stage round #4 of the 2004 season at the banked quarter mile of Jackson Motor Speedway located just south of Jackson in Byram, Mississippi. The event will be the season opener for Jackson Motor Speedway with the main event of the evening being the MSCCS Super Late Models vying for the $2,500 to win and $300 to start plus posted awards in the 50-lap main event.

Action should be at a fever pitch with local ace Scott Slay of Clinton showing the way in the MSCCS title chase and also taking the win at the last MSCCS event at Simpson County Motorsports Park on the 27th of March. Rodney Wing of Meridian is sitting in second place in the points with Terry, Mississippi driver Dennis Duncan holding down the third spot. Rounding out the top five in MSCCS points is David Breazeale with Louisiana’s Chris Wall in fifth place.

Once again the local contingent with be in full force with drivers such as reigning track champion George Paul expected along with Richey Cauthen, Brock Wester, the Cliburns, David Molpus, Steve Bynum, Gary Cooper, plus many more expected to be in action. The best drivers in Mississippi are expected to converge at the Capitol City for what should be a classic dual among the hard charging Magnolia State drivers.

The night of racing action will consist of Brown Engineering Pole Qualifying locking in the top eight qualifiers with positions 9 through 20 set by Cliburn Tank Lines B-Main events plus two provisionals to complete the 22 car starting field.

The Boland Performance Rookie of the Year battle has Chris Wall leading the RotY title chase with Josh Fuller of Marion, Mississippi in second and Greenville’s Greg Fore in 3rd.

The Brown Engineering “Fast Gun” Award currently has Chris Wall, Anthony Rushing, and Randy Walters all tied with one pole award each.



Jackson Motor Speedway is located south of Jackson, Mississippi. The track is located south of Jackson on I-55 to exit 85, then 0.7 mile east on Siwel Rd. to Old Byram Rd., then .4 miles north, then east. Pit gates will open at 3:00pm.
