Thoughts on racing tonight at Belleville

For the first night, very nice crowd. Glad to see all the people that turned out. Hope this is a good sign for the rest of the season.
The Late Model feature was very good as there was very good racing with few yellows. Nice job of winning the feature for Shannon Babb. Good luck at Highland tonight.
This early in the season it is hard to have many of the cars together. Wish there could have been more cars ready in the support classes, but they will comes later in the season.
Had cars for out of state and that is good. Kansas ans Michigan were in the pits. Saw several drivers in the stands because their cars were not ready.
Weather was good for March and the racing was good as well.
Good job by Belle Clair Promotions and hope they continue this year to do good.

Treb came over, Glens Grandson and asked if he could call the Sportsman feature. He said that he always wanted to call a race where his Grandpa had announced and never had a chance to. It sounds like he will be around this year they are building a sportsman for him to race. I thought all in all for a first night everything went smooth little rough in the corners after all the rain you kina expect some holes. We are working on getting some speakers repaired and adding a powered antenna to improve reception. The passing was pretty good a few good slide jobs a few not so good and a little bad luck for a few guy that were tore up by no falt of there own. I cant wait for the rest of the season we have some good things coming up stay tunned !!!

One thing that was not mentioned. What time were the races over? 9:45!!! Now that what is very good for the first night. Not many yellows and the races were smooth and well run. Great job by all.

That's a great point.gave me enough time to take my daughter down to pits and get some autographs and still get home at 10:30

I agree fully for the first night even with the rut in turn 1 track was in great shape considering all the snow & rain. On one other post somebody said Weaver had a good night. If you coming all the way to BC for one other best driver around, winning the B feature & ending up way back had to be a bummer. Who was the guy in the 27 who finished 2nd. Have not seen him before but a real good driver. & the 6K had a good night a couple more laps I think he would have got him to finish 2nd, but 3rd was good. As far as getting done fast, that was an under statement. Even the wreckers were fast getting thing taken care of. & good to see Jimmy do so well in mods, looks like he's gone to be a force this year.

You can see by the number of posts on various threads here how important it is to the fans to keep the program moving fast so the fans can get home at a reasonable time. Great job Belle-clair. One of the things i miss from years ago at all tracks is by the time the races are over and you get down into the pits most of the big name drivers have long departed. Bummer!

I know it's not going to happen that often getting done that early.I know there wasn't a ton of yellows that night.but is that what everybody's opinion is that makes the other nights run so long?

i want to start by saying the show friday was great!! i think one reason why it was over earlier, than regular night was they were a class short than a normal night which would equate to (average) 2 more heats and a feature. another reason was the sportsman and street stocks had very low car counts, but that was because of cars not being finished this early. again, this is not a bash, just trying to answering clinks question.

Only reason I'm throwing the question out there is because there's been ton of talk about how to get fans back in stands.I'm thinking the late times has alot to do with it.nothing better then taking the kids down in the pits and meeting the drivers they were rooting for.my 5 year old loved it.

Greg Kimmons was in the 27. He races at Macon on a weekly basis. The championship came down to Kimmons and Matt Taylor on the last night. Kimmons raced at BC a few times last year. One night he was leading the heat and broke. I think he was down for the Photobilly 50 too, not certain. He has only been in a late model for a few years. He was in a sportsman for a number of years, he's always been competitive

Kimmons actually finished seventh. Kyle Louge finished second. Very good racer who frequents Macon. He also ran well in the WOO race.

I'm not a big Belleville fan in fact I seldom ever got to the races there for various reasons but I must say Saturday nights race was a good race and was over at a decent time.
Good job Don Hoener and crew..

I got to know Greg Kimmons and his family from racing against him in the sportsman class at Shepps's, they are really nice people and I am glad to see him getting pretty competitive in the Late Models.
