Tires

Last year Tri- city, Highland, and Montgomery made the chang to the A only rule. As a racer who generally races two nights a week all out of my own pocket, this was a big money saver for me. I was hoping to see I55 and Belle-Clair make the change this year. Are there any other drivers out there that agree on this rule change? If so, please weigh in to help persuade the promoters.

This would for sure save the racer some money, about 6 wheels and tires less that you have to drag with you to the track, if you have a A or H rule only , 4 on the car, 2 to 3 for spares and feature tires, now you have 7 total versus 13 with you at the track, when you do the math sounds like a winner to me. just my 2 cents. i got my a & h tires from a top team,,when i bolted them on old yeller got real racier for a night or two,,i have run a h all night a time or two and cant tell the difference..lets face it,the well financed teams will run new rubber every night BUT that makes good used stuff available to us low bux racers

Tim this post somehow got swept under the rug. Belleville and Pevely need to follow suit and go A or H. Like you I race out of my own wallet and anything to save a racer a little money needs to be looked at. Hopefully they consider this and move on it soon.

Expect an announcement concerning this very subject soon! Just verifying some details. would still like to see you drivers keep responding.

Every track in the area agreeing on a rule?! Blasphemy!! Haha

I would love to see this rule. But im pretty sure we have had this conversation before.

just throughing this out there..

Fayette co. last year also adopted the A and H only rule for the purestocks and Bmods... Everyone was really happy.... SS and Amods could run D's.... on another note I know a guy who might have a pile of 40+ used D's for sale .... cant sell em' to the purestocks and team cars no more...... In the end though its a great $ saver for the racers...... I think maybe it would be ok to allow a burn off period with D's on the front only,, to help ease the transition,, doing it abruptly could be expensive on the lower budget guys who have alot of D tires left over... alot only run A's and H's on the RR so they would have to restock thier tires for the other 3 corners... burnoff period would allow them to supplement thier tires with D's until they are gone...... D's allowed on the front only till mid season.. then LF only for the rest of the season then no more D's after 2013....
just my thoughts.... gatta Tech em....' and for it to completely work UMP needs to get on board, eventually I would like to see the D tires go away completely.... till then they will still be floating around and this will still be an issue.....

I was actually thinking about running Pevely some this year until I remembered they still run the D's. I tried running my A's with the guys at Brownstown 2 years ago that were running their D's and it does make a world of differnece in the heat races. I too would vote for A's as that would help reduce the number of tires and rims needed at the track.

I think this will just promote more tire doping than what already exist. JMO. I don't believe it saves that much money anyway, maybe in a modified. With the moisture the track held at I55 last year I didn't go through many D's at all. I guess I wasn't driving the car hard enough. Since I didn't go through many I has hoping I had enough D's left over to last me all this season. It won't be saving me money.

I know several drivers have asked me this winter if B/C and I-55 were going to the A & H rule only rule.

I used to run a sportsman (D's) and one of the biggest cost savings of moving to the pure stock is the amount of tires purchased. I would recommend it for the sportsmans for sure. Sorry Mark...lol

Too bad the UMP boys can't grow a sack and make a similar decision.

While I don't have a particular opinion on the A/H vs. D requirement, the rules should ALL be the same, track to track!

how can they grow it, when its in Hoosiers mouth?

For more than 5 years now the latemodels have been limited to only 2 tire compound options weekly, but the modified guys have been dealing with 3 options. Always seemed a bit strange to me that the weekly racer (who UMP was supposed to represent LOL) of the top class could bring fewer tires and wheels to the track than the "economy" class modifieds....
