Tri City Speedway On Track Improvements

Granite City IL. 10-22-03

The big trucks started rolling in about 7:00am and kept coming til past 5:pm in the afternoon bringing load after load of the mysterious black gumbo that makes Tri City Speedway the "Playground of Power" of the midwest.

Under the supervision track owner and promoter Bob Wente, and Bob Lidemen, Chief Grounds Keeper of Tri City Speedway, the deep black dirt was added to both the "Table Smooth" 1/4 mile and to the "Lighting Fast" 1/2 mile, the St. Louis area's only 1/2 mile.

Lidemen's expert crew went to work on the 1/4 mile, massaging in the gumbo, and laying the ground works for what is about to be the most exciting and most competive racing in the midwest. The weekly racing series will race exclusively on the 1/4 mile in 2004.

Also receiving attention from the Tri City Track Crew was the St.Louis's area only 1/2 mile. The 1/2 mile will host such special shows throughout the 2004 season as the World of Outlaws, The Xtreme Dirt Car Series, USAC and SCCA migets and non-wing spints, and several other "To Be Announced" big shows.

The on track improvements are just some of the many improvements being made by Track Owner and Promoter Bob Wente for the much anticipated 2004 race season.

All will become crystal clear within the next month. Please have a bit of patience. Thank you.

it's about time!

it's about time they found somebody else besides wente to promote the track, and i dont understand why they would stop racing the 1/2 weekly that was the biggest attraction at the track. It was the only reason I went there!

?

I heard from a few guys that Tim Herbst was going to be MAN. That would be fine . I remember his days at Highland and he was always a fair guy! He checked ALL the cars! Not just for illegal parts . He also looked at safety! Made me get a different helmet one year, did not like my motorcycle helmet. And I got my bell rang a few times that year!! Good luck!!! I hope you get it , and I'll be there !!! #66 Danny Hessenauer and crew

I heard..from a real good source.tim wil be tha man next year. And..no b mods..whihc..i think is not a god idea..a mods only. That will hurt the modified car count extinsevely( dont think thats spelled correct) ..they wont come without ump points. I like the late model deal..from what hinthint i heard..should be exciting. I personally think they can support a and b mods..if they even want to run a modifed division anyway. JMO Mike..and..i think Godfrey will swing the way granite goes.

ok

Like Doug said...it will all be layed out ina month or so....but the changes are in place and it will be better for most everyone i think....as far as wade swingin with tcs....only change im aware of...is wade still has the ump in his corner and can run the rules for points!Other than that.....both tracks will be very close on the rules situation!Close enuff so the guys can run both every week if they like!

All im sayin bout it at this time!

Sounds like a good deal. most modified guys around here are kiddin theirselves to run for ump points anyway. no one around here has been a threat to win the title for years-not since john seets did it.

your right about that jaded because the competition is tough around hear, but at least tri city is going in the right direction but why is that the only track in the region that makes wholesale changes is beyond me

I THINK A CHANGE AT TCS IS WHATS BEEN NEEDED IF THEY EVER WANT THE PLACE TO GET CLOSE TO LIVING UP TO ITS POTENTIAL.

IF TCS ISN'T GOING TO BE UMP, THEY SHOULD STILL GET ON THE SAME PAGE RULES/CLASS WISE. NOT EVERYONE RUNNING A UMP MOD OR LATE MODEL IS RUNNING FOR POINTS. A LOT OF TIMES IT COMES DOWN TO HAVING ANOTHER OPTION OF WHERE A GUY WANTS TO RACE. WITH SO MANY OTHER TRACKS CLOSE BY THAT HAVE SOME SORT OF UMP CLASS. IT WOULD MAKE SENSE TO OFFER THAT OPTION.

DURING THE COARSE OF THE SEASON, SOME GUYS GET FRUSTRATED WITH OTHER TRACKS. ALSO THE DAYS OF BUILDING A CAR FOR ONE TRACK ARE GOING BY THE WASTE SIDE. I THINK IF THEY DID THIS THE CAR COUNTS WOULD INCREASE....JMO...
