Kennedale, TX (06/10/11) – Saturday night saw the 1st Annual COMP Cams SMP Longhorn Speedweek Presented By Racing Head Service conclude as the tour invaded Cowtown Speedway (Kennedale, Texas), and it was Triston Dycus, who claimed the $1,500 win as Tyler Townsend claimed the series’ title.

Twenty-eight, Open Wheel Modifieds entered the program, and it was series’ point’s leader, Tyler Townsend, who turned the fastest lap in time trials to earn the pole position for the 30 lap feature with Clyde Dunn Jr. starting to his outside.

Townsend would lead early in the caution-filled event before Triston Dycus battled his way to the lead late in the event and never looked back as he claimed the win over Peyton Taylor, Townsend, Justin McCoy, and Josh Landers.
During the course of the race Townsend and Taylor exchanged the point’s lead as they battled through the pack, but when the checkered flag dropped it was Townsend, who earned the championship in the 1st Annual COMP Cams Longhorn Speedweek by just five points over Taylor. Rounding out the top five in the final series’ standings were TJ Herndon, Chase Allen, and Jared Webb.

With the 1st Annual COMP Cams SMP Longhorn Speedweek now in the books, the tour looks ahead to the 2nd Annual COMP Cams SMP Sooner Speedweek, which will open on Friday, July 15th at Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kansas). For more information, please visit www.SMPSeries.com.
