Two New Drivers Win At Sfcr

Farmington , MO (June 2, 2007) -- Some new face appeared this week in the Winner Circle at St Francois County Raceway. Although the drivers are not new to the track, it is their first wins of the season. Joey Montgomery, Fredericktown, MO in the Sprint Division and Tom Vogt, St Genevieve, MO in the Modified Division. Mark Shirshekan, Farmington , MO wins in the Powri 600 Multi and John Bohn, Farmington , MO picks up the checkers in the Pure Street Division.

The start of the evening was one that looked gloomy. Rain was in the area and even at the track. It finally let up and track preparation would commence. Our Track Crew, with the help of the Pure Streets, Modifieds, and Sprints helped make a super racing surface.

Sprint Car Division feature saw to great drivers lead the field to the green. Tommy Worley, Jr., Farmington , MO and Joey Montgomery of Fredericktown , MO gave the fans a real show on the first lap of the 25 lap Main Event. Each had the lead on the lap. Worley taking the lead in turn one and Montgomery re-taking the lead in turn 4. This classic battle also saw Jason Hunt, Bonne Terre , MO right behind the leaders. All were in very close quarters. These three would continue on until a lap 19 caution came out for Lou Thery, Bunker Hill , IL his car had stalled from electrical problems. Worley, who was leading at the time of the caution, pulled his car into the pits. Mechanical problems would sideline him for the duration of the event. This left Montgomery at the front to deal with Hunt, Jimmy Hurley, Springfield , IL. , brother Tim Montgomery, Fredericktown , MO and A J Bruns, Lincoln , IL . Several more restarts would happen due to minor spins. Each would allow eventual second place runner more that one chane to take the win. A valiant effort was made by Hurley, but he had to settle for the second spot. Rounding out the top 5 were Hunt, Tim Montgomery and A J Bruns. Next five are Bryan Matthews, Park Hills, MO, Bob Thoman, Higginsville, MO, Joey Boyd, Farmington, MO, “Doc” Sloan, Imperial, MO and Kenny Hambrick, Bonne Terre, MO.

Heats were won by Keith Burch, Farmington , MO , Joey Montgomery and Tommy Worley, Jr. Worley also captured the dash

The Modified Division as mention also found a new winner. Tom Vogt, St Genevieve , MO survived a series of yellows for his first win since 1989. Vogt started on the pole of the main. He was chased into turn one by Chris Boyd, Park Hills , MO and Doug DeClue, Desloge , MO. Billy Smith, Park Hills , MO began to make his way to the front, only to find the right front tire of a competitor, and drove headlong into the outside wall. Billy would walk away from the accident, but out of the event. The restart saw Vogt pickup where he left off and had to make it through one more caution on lap 12 for debris. Vogt was chased to the flag by Chris West, Potosi , MO (his best finish of the year), Jeremy Greenwalt, Potosi , MO , Doug DeClue, Desloge , MO (his best of the season) and Michael Abney, Belgrade , MO. Remainder of the Top 10 are Brent Thompson, Park Hills , MO , Matt Eaton, Park Hills , MO , Shannon Blair, Potosi , MO , Billy Smith, Park Hills , MO and Jonathan Self, Cedar Hills , MO.

Heat winners were Vogt, John Paul Reando, Festus , MO , and David Shepard, DeSoto , MO.

The Pure Street Division found John Bohn, Farmington , MO in Victory Lane for the third time this season. Bohn would start on the front row with Josh “Fireball” Skaggs, Bismarck , MO next to him. The two would race together until a lap 6 caution showed for debris. Skaggs’ car began to overheat and pulled in to save the engine. Bohn had no trouble in securing the win. In the process he broke a three race win streak by his teammate Chris Boyd. Top 10 are Bohn, Bill Skaggs, Bismarck, MO, Charlie Savage, Annapolis, MO, Dave “The Wolf” Wofford, Park Hills, MO, Shane Blair, Mineral Point, MO, Chris Boyd, Park Hills, MO, Brad Masheck, Farmington, MO, Eric Sarakas, Fredericktown, MO, Brian Blair, Cadet, MO, and Paul Warren, Annapolis, MO

Heat winners are Josh Skaggs and John Bohn.

PowrI 600 Multi Division was all Mark Shirshekan, Farmington , MO. Mark picked up his second win of the season to tie him with Jimmy Bridgeman for most wins this season. Bridgeman, Farmington , MO came home second, Ryan Kempin, Catawissa , MO is third, fourth goes to Sam “The Man” Miller, Farmington , MO and Brandon Nixon, Mineral Point , MO finishes fifth.

Remainder of the top 10 Jake Bess, Bonne Terre , MO , Brian Keen, Desloge , MO , James Scott, Jerrerson City , MO , Eric Zeigler, Bonne Terre , MO and Jeff Wurst, Bonne Terre , MO.

Heats were won by Shirshekan and Bess.
