LaSalle, IL- Steve Tyne lifted the proverbial "monkey off his back" and made a grand return to the winners circle at LaSalle Speedway Saturday evening. The "Streator Streak" captured his win after a rash of bad luck has followed the former track champion for much of the first month of racing.

Tyne started the UMP Late Model's twenty five lap main event on the front row next to last week's winner, Tim Hamburg of Dixon, as Elmhurst's Jim Partipilo and Oglesby's Billy Weistart Jr. were on the grid in the second row. Before the first lap could be scored, Hamburg and Tyne made contact bringing out a caution and a complete restart. Lucky for the two the yellow came before the completion of the first lap enabling them to stay in their original starting positions.

By Lap 2, Tyne had managed to generate some distance between himself and Hamburg as Partipilo, Bensenville's Frank Reaber, Skip Martin and Tim Routson followed. Six laps later Hamburg was back up to Tyne's tail while Reaber and Partipilo battled for third. Several car lengths behind them Glynn used the low groove to pass Martin at the same time as Routson and Jay
Fiene worked for seventh.

A yellow on Lap 14 stalled the action and restarted the field in a
single file line up with the Hamburg now at the rear of the pack. During the final laps, Tyne controlled the track with Reaber holding up second in front of a dueling Glynn and Partipilo. For the last seven laps, Glynn and Partipilo went door to door in racing action. With only one to go, Glynn used the low groove to move into third for the final time.

When the checkered dropped, Tyne was the victor over Reaber, Glynn, Partipilo, Routson, Ladd's Danny Bardell, Don Knippenburg, Tom Markham, Jason Feger, Hamburg, Garrett Slager, Tim Brach, Matt Ramer, Jay Fiene, Brandon Slager and Ryan Dauber.

Tyne claimed the Dash win in front of Hamburg, Partipilo and Weistart. Slager won the second Heat uncontested with Markham, Jason Jaggers and Fiene following. Feger took home the fast Heat win with Dauber, Reaber and Glynn in hot pursuit. Routson was the top qualifier with a time of 12.787.

TJ Markham held off a competitive eighteen car field of Midwestern Late Model's for the feature win. For the first fourteen laps of the event, Tonica's Eric Dauber sailed through the corners as the leader leaving TJ, Ralph Markham and Princeton's Steve Oeder in a trio battle for second. By lap nine, TJ and Oeder were still side by side with Darin Furar now hunting
them down.

On Lap 14, Dauber was working his way through lapped traffic when TJ saw the opportunity and chose the low side to steal the lead. TJ took control and set the pace as Furar, from his eighth place start, had his sights set on the lead. The field remained close for the final laps as Furar held the lower line to pass Dauber for second.

As TJ picked up the victory, Furar crossed the line second in front of Dauber, Oeder, Ralph, John Johnson, Joe Burba and Rich Bell. The semi feature winner, Butch Hampson of Ottawa, started at the rear of the field and finished an impressive ninth with Dan Patnoe, Mike Cardine, Charlie Olson, Tony Coglianese, Mike Migliorini and Rob Piper completing the top fifteen finishers respectively.

Kevin Skipper posted the fastest lap with a time of 13.600 in a
borrowed car of John Piccatto. Hampson won the first Heat with Wally Forsythe, Larry Yardley and Olson trailing. Burba held off Reno Markham, Furar and Bell to claim the second Heat win. Finishing behind Hampson in the semi feature was Coglianese, Patnoe and Yardley.

Jeff Hartzell made a clean sweep of the Midwestern Sportsman division, winning both his heat and feature events. During the feature, he held back a hard charging field of twenty cars for the win.

At the finish line, it was last weeks winner, Hill, behind Hartzell as
Scott Cimei, Brian Claudnic, Scott Hatzer, Darryl Grandys, Eric Rebholz, BJ Mires, Tim Fitzpatrick, Bill Satek and Sharon Schlappi topped the first eleven finishers.

In earlier action, Duane McCarville won the first Heat over Duane
Peterson, Hill and Aaron Schmitt. Hartzell held off Rebholz, BJ Mires and Brian Claudnic for the second Heat race.

Daniel Bark kept a strong field of Street Stocks at bay to claim the
main event for the class. Thirty five cars in attendance determined two feature races for the division. When Bark crossed the finish line he had Joe Hamilton, Buddy Boyd, Scott Schmitt, Chuck Provenzano, Gary Schmitt, John Peterson, Justin Rutledge, Chuck Leason and Brandon Maciejewski finishing behind him.

Charles Herhold won the Street Stock B Main in front of Ken
Schiradelly, Al Gray, Travis Rokey, Mike Manno, Nick Sell, Wesley Elkins, Cord Williams, Jason Ramos and John Messersmith.
