UMP mandating Crates in B-Mods in 2015 QUESTION

Will Highland have a rules meeting this yr. for the b mods? Wondering about any rear suspension changes and there thoughts of the engine rule.

i cant see them changing much on the suspension or the open motors,i do see the rules on crate motors being ,,how do you say?being adjusted

rules committe met tonight will post any changes soon over all rules did not change except CRATES WILL HAVE TO RUN SPECIFIED CARB IN RULES HOLLEY 80541-1 i think it is

7-9 nights you have to change springs as well. That adds costs to running a crate as well. Plus you got this stuff that isnt legal persay according to the rules http://www.racingjunk.com/Valves-Valve-Springs/2911101/GM-602-603-604-CRATE-CHEATER-SPRINGS-.html If you run say 18 nights thats 2 maybe 3 times you should change them. They get weak and if they break well valve goes down and motor goes poof. Im with Lenny on this......you can still build a decent spec motor cheaper than 3500 and it will last all years without maintenance other than change the oil. If you baby it should go 2 years. I like the idea of going non sanctioned and running local track rules You can buy used crates for 1500 but there is usually a reason they are used and they are up for sale. Just my opinion. I just think the tracks could all band together and come up with a cheap motor program through a local builder and do way better than the 602 route.

Jmo, leave it like it is now, if you want to run a crate engine you can or run a under 360cubic inch motor. It looked like it worked fine this last season.

Why change the only class that is growing. I have what i need to keep running, if I have to go to crate it will cost to much for me to stay in. If you think of the ford and dodge guys with them its not just the cost of the engine you have to think of. The rest of the parts they have to buy (fuel pump, starter, water pump, power steering, tranny, and radiator) im sure there is more, but what would the cost be for thease guys? Would they stay in, or get out and turn a growing class into a once was good class.

The B-mod rules that Farmington races under are the rules that Montgomery County had that were UMP rules. We have kept the same rules that MCS had since around 2000 at SFCR. Go look at the B-mod rules that Benton and Tri City used for their shows , with the different weight breaks and lets go racing.

I agree 100% kenny... and with those weight breaks, it really evens the cars out very well... but lesson learned by me, a 6.83 does NOT work at tri city in my car, but i still had fun anyway... one question i do have about the crate motor, are they allowed to run a 4-barrel in the b-mod class??

I think there needed to be more of a weight break on the 3 link cars. When it got slick, the 4 bar cars drove around the corner a lot better. Jmo

thats why we have missouri b mods and i guess illinois sport mods 3 link isnt only thing that is different

I do not like the GM-only rules for all these crate classes. I am sure Ford and MOPAR can offer competitive products but it is hard to justify the investment if their customers can't run the engines anywhere. There are still many fans who like some variety on the track.

If i remember correctly, the only reason they said they don't allow a Ford or mopar Crate motor is being there is nothing comparable to the 602.
