Lonnie Wheatley, DODGE CITY, Kan. (September 24, 2012) – The curtains close on the 2012 season at Dodge City Raceway Park in grand style as the 3/8-mile clay oval hosts the season-ending championship event for the United Rebel Sprint Series 305-ci Sprint Cars this Saturday night.

While the URSS 305’s wrap up the season, it also marks the final night of point racing action for the track’s regularly featured classes of IMCA Modifieds, United Wireless IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, Poor Boy Kustomz Thunder Cars and Hornets.

Carrying a 34-point advantage into the event, Brian Herbert will try to finish off the URSS National championship in front of his hometown Dodge City crowd. Herbert is trying to fend off Colorado teen Jake Bubak, who topped the July 27 event at DCRP, with Jeff Radcliffe, Brian Hardman and Lance Davis filling out the current top five in URSS National points.

Herbert also holds a 16-point advantage over Radcliffe in URSS Kansas Region points, while Bubak has a commanding lead over Hardman in URSS Colorado Region points.

Another pair of championships are up for grabs as well, including the IMCA Modified and Hornet point chases. Cole Traugott holds just a one-point advantage over Brendon Gemmill entering the final night of IMCA Modified action, while Dwayne Bowman has a six-point edge in the Hornet chase.

With a pair of wins to his credit, Bart Baker holds the IMCA Sport Modified points lead, Perry Misner will try to add another win to his IMCA Stock Car championship campaign and Dan Rogers simply needs to take a green flag to secure the Thunder Car title.

Tickets to Saturday’s Championship Night season finale are just $15 for adults. Seniors and Military receive a $5 discount, with children 11 and under admitted free if accompanied by an adult. Pit passes are $30.

Racing action gets under way at 7:30 p.m.

Dodge City Raceway Park presents 14 nights of racing over eleven different weekends in 2012.
