FOR IMMEDAITE RELEASE – Park City, Kansas – June 4, 2014 - Sprint car action gets back underway during this month of June with three events scheduled for the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products sprint car division including two dates with the American Bank of Oklahoma American Sprint Car Series Sooner region.
The first event for the month of June will be the annual “Hoosier Daddy” Father’s Day special on Sunday night, June 15[sup]th[/sup], at 81 Speedway in Park City. This event will be the second of five scheduled at the home of the series
Then two weeks later a weekend all area sprint car fans and drivers will want to mark on their calendar. First up and after a year hiatus, the series 360-sprinters return to Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, Kansas on Saturday night, June 29[sup]th[/sup], in a combined event with the ASCS Sooner region. Back in 2012 it was Logan Forler who picked up his first career NCRA victory. In fact, nine different drivers have reached victory lane at the three-eighths mile clay oval since 2006. Among them include Forler, Ryan Roberts, J.D. Johnson, Jason Martin, Mike Peters, Koby Barksdale, Don Droud, Jr., Garry Lee Maier and Gary Wright.
Both series then move east to 81 Speedway for a Sunday night showdown to wrap up the weekend and all events will pay the standard $2000 to win, $350 to start purse.
Thus far during the 2014 race season, four different drivers have reached victory lane with two of those drivers earning their first career series victories. At the last completed event held last month in Longdale, Oklahoma it was Jeff Stasa earning his first career sprint car victory. Jack Dover picked up the checkered flag in the series first ever appearance at Butler County Speedway in Rising City, Nebraska with Danny Wood claiming honors at the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, Kansas back in April. Kevin Swindell took home the victory and $5000 in the season opener at 81 Speedway during the fourth annual “Air Capital Shootout.”
As the sprint tour enters these events, the battle for the point lead is about as tight as it can get near midseason. Defending tour champion C.J. Johnson of Quinter, Kansas sits atop the standings while former champion Jeremy Campbell is just 5 points out of the lead. J.D. Johnson is third in the standings and just 125 points out of the lead while Wood and Jon Freeman round out the top five.
Jake Grieder of Haysville, Kansas currently has a 118 point lead over Raymond Seeman in the rookie of the year chase.
Also during the four events that have been completed, 64 different drivers from 14 states have competed in at least one NCRA sprint car event with six drivers competing in all four.
